What you need to know

  • Sonny Dickson claims to have gotten his hands on dummy units of the new iPad Pro and iPad mini.
  • The units show that the iPad Pro models will get the three-camera array currently found in the iPhone 12 Pro models.
  • The iPad mini, however, appears unchanged on the outside.

The new iPad Pros and iPad mini, while packed full of new features on the inside, may not look remarkably different on the outside.

Apple leaker and blogger Sonny Dickson posted was is reportedly dummy units of the new 11-inch iPad Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and iPad mini.

For the iPad Pro, it appears that both may pack the three-camera array that is currently on the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. This would be a notable upgrade as the current version only features a two-camera array. The iPad mini, however, appears to be practically indistinguishable from the current model.

"Refreshed iPad Pros and iPad Mini dummies. Triple Camera array on the pros. Central camera up top on iPad mini; slightly thicker. Hard to tell and different in screen size."

Not too many details are known about a new iPad mini. The mini has been somewhat forgotten when compared to the rest of the iPad lineup. Apple may, as it has done in the past, upgrade the processor and call it a day.

The new iPad Pro, however, is a different story. The new models are expected to pack the three-camera array currently featured in the iPhone 12 Pro models, the new A14X processor, and could be one of the first Apple devices to feature a mini-LED display.
