What you need to know

  • Apple will likely announce iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 during next month's WWDC event.
  • A new concept imagines what those two updates could offer, including an always-on display.

If everything goes according to the usual cadence we can expect Apple to announce iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 during next month's WWDC. That means we have just a few weeks to wait before we get to see what Apple has lined up, but maybe we don't have to wait at all. A new concept of both iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 could hint at what's to come, and how Apple could unlock the power of tablets like its brand new iPad Pro.

And at the very least it gives is a wishlist to start off with!

Created by UX and concept designer Angelo Libero, the concept imagines a done of things that we've been hearing rumors about of late. One of those is a new always-on display that could show notifications, widgets, and more all while an iPhone is sat idle. Apple is thought to be bringing a new display to iPhone 13 that includes a variable refresh rate which could make this feature a no-brainer.

On the iPad side, Libero suggests we might see the arrival of an App Library just as we already have on iPhone. It's something that makes so much sense we have to wonder why it isn't part of iPadOS 14 already. Hopefully, Apple sorts that this time around.

One feature that is more likely to come to iPad than iPhone is multi-user support. The concept imagines it appearing on both platforms however, and there's no denying that this kind of user-switching makes sense in tons of cases.

We all have our own wishlist for what Apple should add to this year's round of updates but with WWDC now just a matter of weeks away we won't be waiting too much longer to find out what's in store. I do know I'll be a happy bunny we get anything close to these concept images.

You can see more of Angelo's work over in Instagram, too.
