Quick Review: Plants vs. Zombies for iPad

We are pretty sure by now most of you have heard of a little game called Plants vs. Zombies from the developer Popcap. TiPb would now like to introduce you to Plants vs. Zombies HD. [iTunes Link (opens in new tab) - $9.99] Right away I know what many of you may be thinking, why spend another $9.99 on a app I always paid for on my iPhone or iPod touch? I am here to tell you that if you love the game on any platform - buy it for iPad as you will not regret it. Plants vs. Zombies HD on iPad is the best way to experience this game.

The iPad version is identical to it's iPhone counterpart in the gameplay aspect but is much more graphically pleasing to the eye on iPad. You defend your home from invading zombies with an arsenal of 49 zombie destroying plants. The plants (a.k.a. weapons) available to you include peashooters, wall-nuts, cherry bombs and more to dismember the 26 different types of zombies. Along with all of this zombie action you get five game modes:

  • Adventure: 50 levels — Play through day, night and fog, in a swimming pool and on the rooftop.
  • Mini-Games
  • Puzzle
  • Survival
  • Stress Free Zen Garden

  • I think I'm gonna cave and buy this one.
  • sorry but at 9.99 you are going to see a serious drop in prices once a jailbreak hits...with all the talk of 90% piracy rates on the iphone when the apps are 99 cents at 9.99 they are going to be 99% pirated or prices will be forced down quickly. I haven't even jailbroken my iphone and don't own an ipad but I am still concerned they may be charging too much
  • $10? No thanks. $3 for the iPhone and $10 for the PC is enough for me. No way I'm paying $10 for the same game.
And HD is "1024x768"? Yea, right. Put out higher graphics for the PC and something higher than 1024x768.
  • Yea, 10 bucks is too much considering that it only took them 20 minutes to make it...
  • Zzzz wake me up when the new new iPhone comes out!
  • I have to agree that $9.99 is too high but I am sure there will be people who buy it.
I'll personally wait for it to come down to the $4.99 range.
  • I thought the iPhone version was missing the minigames, but this article says the ipad is identical...and has the minigames. Does the ipad have them? Does the iPhone? Or am I just confused by the wording?
  • Great game. You can find a full review of Plants vs Zombies HD here: http://www.tapscape.com/plants-vs-zombies-hd-ipad-review/
