Untethered iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak will reportedly arrive in a matter of days, support the new iPad [Updated]

The untethered iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak could be released in a matter of days. Many people have been eagerly awaiting an untethered jailbreak for the latest version of iOS 5.1.1. It has taken a while for it to even look possible never mind become available. Now it appears that the wait may finally be over and it could arrive as early as next week. According to jailbreak developer pod2g.
Thanks to awesome work of @planetbeing and @pimskeks, we're near ready for a release. Now it's a matter of days.
Update: @MuscleNerd has provided some additional information, which he prefaces by saying is tentative and subject to last minute change:
- the initial 5.1.1 plan used a kernel exploit from @westbaer which unfortunately precluded use in iPod3,1 and iPhone2,1
- @planetbeing stepped up and provided a kernel exploit that covers both of those. Those two JBers are the bomb!
- The 5.1.1 A5 JB is very similar to the A5 5.0.1 JB. @pimskeks has done a tremendous job supporting both 5.0.1 and 5.1.1 in absinthe
- Similar to 5.0.1, there will also be a 5.1.1 CLI "cinject" binary and redsn0w version of the 5.1.1 JB+untether. Absinthe, cinject, and redsn0w will all provide the same JB in different fashions.
- timing is indeterminate. Plans are for this week, but a number of factors can influence that.
- For those wishing to donate, we've set up a new 5.1.1 paypal URL: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=4U6DQGJ2NRVUN (opens in new tab) -> Please don't pirate AppStore apps (seriously, please do not).
There is some good news and bad news with this particular jailbreak. First the bad news -- the new jailbreak tool will still not support the latest 1080p Apple TV. The good news however is pod2g believes that it should work with the new iPad; whichever version you have although testing has not been done on the iPad 3 Global version. The new jailbreak tool hasn't been tested yet on the just released iPad 2 R2 either but again it is believed to work.
I personally can't wait for this to arrive just so I can update some apps that must have iOS 5.1 like the latest versions of iMovie, Pages and Numbers.
Anyone else looking forward to the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak?

my iPhone 4 is already jailbroken but I still am glad there is an untethered version coming (although I never really need to restart my phone as most cydia packages seem to be good with respring only now)
-
Personally, I'd rather any new exploits be held on to until ios6, but hey, I don't have a new ipad either.
-
But it's uncertain that the jailbreak will work on ios 6. Sooo better now than never
-
Your welcome! This is my luck that is why this is happening...
When I deploy things like this drop....Since I cant load JB overseas because Iphone wont re connect with Verizon while overseas. the JB/Leak Gods are doing this now...
I leave in about 8 hours so anytime after that...
Flights been delayed once...hoping for a second... -
Be safe brother. And thanks for serving.
-
will it also fix the unlock on ultrasn0w? because i really want to unlock my phone already.
-
That would be awesome... Having an iPhone 4S software unlocked to work anywhere, worldwide (including T-Mobile US)!
I am ready to upgrade to iOS 5.1.1 Jailbroken, but am stuck on iOS 5.0.1 currently, just for that Jailbreak. I simply cannot use my iPhone 4S without it being Jailbroken! -
U can save SHSH blobs, then upgrade to 5.1.1 and JB.
But it should be out in couple days so... -
There's already a fix out there. Just google it.
-
cant wait!getting tired of not being able to delete from photostream on my 4s
cant wait to jailbreak my new ipad too! -
Next week crApple announces some security vulnerabilities and minor bugs they have been hiding in the closet. 5.2 released within a month.
-
Will the jailbreak work if the device is still on 5.1 or must it be on the lasted version, 5.1.1?
-
Yeah battery life sucks on this one compared to 5.1 and I wish there was a way to downgrade and I also want to know the answer to that question.
-
It seems like it takes them a lot longer now to release new jailbreaks. I wonder if it's a trend that'll continue...? Oh well, as long as I can eventually keep on getting them I can be patient. I can't wait to update all my updates that require 5.1. I literally check about every 8 hours, or 3 times a day for its release. I'm so excited. It's like Xmas. [=^)
-
My take on why it takes so long to release the jailbreak compared to the good old days of iPhone OS 2 and iOS 3 is for a number of factors, the first being that the jailbreak has to be tested on SO many devices, the fact that the exploit in general needs to be tested so it does not brick the device in any way and lastly they probably have a lot of internal debate on when and for what version they will release for, so likely they though it would be best to release for 5.1.1 rather than wait for 5.2 probably because the exploit is not that quickly or easily fixed. Thats just my take on it.
-
Absolutely cannot wait. Awesome!

Great. I'd love to have cooler looking business cards. Never thought of getting round ones before.
