Some are freaked out by it while they use MySpace…MySpace freaks me out…

I’ve used Twitter to challenge others (@llofte to get ice cream…,) asked @reneritchie ‘s opinion about iPhone update, and have had lunch with people that I had previously known in the Twitter world… it’s a new world after all… hums tune

The article asks to state the reason “why” anyone here doesn’t use it. I simply answered the question. Go ahead and use it. Im just saying it’s not for me because I couldn’t try it even if I wanted to… I couldn’t figure out where to begin even when I was interested.

IM, email, Facebook, MySpace, TiPb… they all make sense to me. Twitter? Makes no sense to me. Sorry.

But the video ISN’T a spoof. Its as close to the mark as anything I’ve seen on this topic.

AND, fyi, I’ve used twitter. (not on the phone, since most of my day is in front of my computer). Ive tried it with family (20 somethings mostly), blogs, political candidates, colleges in my field. I gave up after three weeks. In that time I didn’t see one single tweet that enhanced my life in any way.

Its pretty much a total waste of my time and I never saw a single person gain any real advantage from it. Instead of actually doing any research or coding, I found my staff hopping on twitter each time any little obstacle in their daily work appeared, and once they did, no further work was done that day.

I finally had to ban it from our office, because twitter use expands to fill the entire work day at the expense of deadlines. People wonder why corporations outsource jobs out over seas, but they think nothing of wasting an afternoon gossiping in real-time.

I understand that you like it. I’m not saying you shouldn’t. But its a wasteland for the vast majority of users.

How do you expect to “know” something without actually having tried it? Steve, of course it looks jumbled to you, because its similar to jumping in mid conversation & trying to join in. You would be surprised the information u can glean off the site, if you knew what you were doing.

cant really expect someone to spend every minute of their lives studying or working can you? Can you honestly say that you work the full 8 hours straight? of course not, u BS surf web, etc.

Of course, we ALL have actually lead lives.. I can flip the script and say: instead of commenting on this site, why dont u go out and hang out instead of talking about something you barely have a understanding via a spoof video?

Yeah, it’s baffling to me, too. I clicked on some of the people’s IDs mentioned in the article (to possibly get a better understanding of it than what I’ve had up until now), but I see comments that don’t even appear to be responses to one another. I don’t see any connection or relation between one comment and the ones above or below them. It just seems to be incoherent babbling for the sake of babbling… and everyone seems to be talking about something completely different. And Twitter’s web site is as much of a mystery to me as people’s tweets are.

I’m not against it, or anything… to each their own. I just don’t get it. The person who made the video seems to be in agreement. It was well done.

Why? Wouldn’t the time be better spent studying? How will this possibly help you in your career? Go out, have a few beers, then put the friends (or what you think are friends) on hold rather than wasting valuable time telling everyone the minutia of your day.

Re watch the video if you still don’t understand what I’m talking about. It is SO right to the point. But it seems totally lost on you.

I dislike it so much that Ive got rid of my FaceBook account and only use Twitter. It only has people who I want on as well, whereas my FaceBook was getting filled with people who I didn’t really want to talk to.
