iTunes 8.2 Contains Next Gen iPhone Strings for VoiceOver, Nike+, Radio Tagging
Poor iTunes 8.2, not even a week and its code has been sifted and (some of?) its secrets laid bare. Apple Insider reveals details including:
- radio capabilities along with a corresponding ability to tag songs so that they can later be purchased from the iTunes store
- additional string shows the ability to change VoiceOver settings to manage aspects of the Nike+ application
So, Nike+ like the iPod touch, VoiceOver like the iPod shuffle — looks like Apple isn’t only adding new features to the next gen iPhone, but leveraging features they’ve added to the rest of the line since the last gen iPhone. Good way for Apple to keep the iPhone “the best iPod we’ve ever made”, isn’t it?

Nice find. So i wonder why release the new itunes so soon, Apple should know by now that people will sift through the code and find this information. My guess is that 3.0 will be very soon or even a new iphone very very soon. But i guess we can just cross our fingers.
radio tag ? So is that an API in 3.0 for 3rd party apps ?
Apple should add a feature from iTunes that I find useful. In iTunes, If I have one song in my library by an artist and I would like to get more songs , I just click on the little arrow next to the artist name and I get results within the iTunes Store.
They should add that feature to the iPod in 3.0
@richxps, I agree with you – something’s coming out very soon. My prediction is it’s the 3.0 software.
Great, the Nike+ will be another app I won’t be allowed to delete?
yea i wont be usin nike+ and i wish there was a way like with the blackberries to hide an icon u wont be using if u dont/cant delete it

@robbieblsme you can hide those icons with the jailbreak. IMHO one of the few usable features worth the jailbreak.
People relax. It’s probable just software that supports the Nike+ system. You may still have to download the app itself.
I for one think it’s about time as Apple should have done that with the iPhone from the beginning. Why should I have to have an iPod just to keep track of my running and carry a phone in case of an emergency. This is truly becoming and all-in-one device.
iTunes has to be released early in order to support the iPhone 3.0 software and the new iPhone. Otherwise a lot of people will forget they need to upgrade iTunes, install the 3.0 software, buy the new iPhone and then wonder why their iPhone doesn’t activate or sync.
@ken you know by default even the iPod touch doesn’t show the Nike+ icon. You have to go into settings to eneble the feature and then the icon appears. I am sure that is how it will be on the iPhone
