Apple iTunes and iPod Special Music Event on Sept. 9 Seconded?
Apple holding it’s annual iTunes- and iPod-focused music event on Sept. 9th is looking increasingly likely. Never mind that last year’s event was held on September 9, or that 9/9/9 holds some numerological magic, it just makes the kind of sense that does, right?
For their part, AppleInsider claims they’ve managed to get independent confirmation of the event from “people familiar with the matter”, and also expect the afore-reported iTunes 9 with social networking, 3rd generation iPod touch with camera, and iPod nano with with camera to be in the lineup, along with other pieces “to this year’s iPod story.”
“Cocktail”, which would try to bring back the album format, including artwork, lyrics, and other bonus material, the perennial Beatles on iTunes rumors, and of course iPhone OS 3.1 are also in the cards.
UPDATED: Forgot that little story about the iPhone 3GS (and presumably the iPod touch third gen) being able to output 720p and 1080p video… How about that for the music event?

September 9 is only 2 weeks away. If it is to take place on September 9, is it normal for Apple to wait so late to send out official invitations to the event?

@Jason Apple typically only sends out invites a week — or less! — in advance.
The “Buy a Mac and get a Free iPod” deal ends on Sept. 8th – pointing to the fact that they’ll have new ones on the 9th and won’t be wanting to give those away with new Macs until next year at this time

Im sure they will have some good stuff coming out, although, I dont know why they would tell us that AT&Ts network is ready for MMS at an Apple conference, Apple already had their conference telling us they were enabeling MMS. The Zune HD is looking pretty nice, and iTunes 9 if they let us encode Blu-Rays that would be nice.

Tommy p: last year you could order them on the date they were unveiled but weren’t in stores for a couple of weeks. I ordered my 2G touch and got it in three days!

They might not explicitly say AT&T has mms up and running but they might release iPhone 3.1 and in doing so open up mms. I’m sure hoping so, I started classes Monday so summer is over AT&T!!
