iTunes 9.0.1

Apple today released iTunes 9.0.1, a minor point update to their iTunes 9 media hub and sync solution. Weighing in at 89.8MB, as befits its .0.1 nature, the changes read like a who's who of bug fixes, including:

  • Resolves issues browsing the iTunes Store.
  • Addresses a performance issue where iTunes may become unresponsive.
  • Fixes a problem where iTunes may unexpectedly quit.
  • Fixes a problem syncing Podcasts in playlists to iPod or iPhone.
  • Fixes a problem sorting albums with multiple discs.
  • Addresses an issue with the Zoom button not switching to Mini Player.
  • Improves application syncing for iPod touch and iPhone.
  • Genius is now automatically updated to show Genius Mixes.

Hit up Apple Software Update to grab it and when you do, let us know if it fixes what's been ailing you...

(And let's hope iPhone 3.1.1 is on its way soon to do likewise!)

  1. Andy says:

    First!!! O nice I did have problems syncing my videos

  2. Dexter says:

    I think I'm still gonna wait it out. Let Apple get their shnit together and I'll see.

  3. Uh says:

    First? Andy ur such a fag.

  4. Joe McG says:

    The fact that the first iTunes didn't automatically update genius was a joke. They must hire programmers out of kindergarten.

  5. Bin75 says:

    Yeah right! It will be a cold day in h*ll before I run out and update anything made by Apple. I learned my lesson with OS 3.1, my phone is basically useless at this point. It is pretty sad when you are surprised when you can make a call without rebooting first. I think I will wait and see what others have to say before updating.

  6. bboy says:

    mms works noww yeahhhh but cant sent videos on my 3g only pictures:(

  7. Hakala says:

    Ha do I have to wait just as long for the download and install and restart just as I did for 9.0??? Dear god why can't they simply patch thongs like this.

  8. icebike says:

    @Hakala:

    I thought a thong WAS a patch...

  9. icebike says:

    @Icebike:

    I think backup was a tad faster this time. No great pauses in the middle where no dis activity occurred on the computer.

  10. danny says:

    Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

  11. Carol says:

    How did anyone get MMS with this upgrade? I downloaded 9.0.1, then checked for iPhone updates, but it said 3.1 was the latest.

  12. Conor says:

    So there was a bug with the store! It kept saying I owed them money even when I didnt >.<

  13. Dan says:

    Definitely need iPhone 3.1.1. This pathetic battery life is killing me. Have to carry my cord everywhere. . . . .

  14. Icebike says:

    @Carol

    Nobody got mms via this upgrade. Don't believe everything you read here.

    You need to download a hacked carrier file for mms. Not worth it since official support will be here in 3 or 4 days.

  15. Coach Brown says:

    Still does not totally fix the podcast problem. The dates are fine, but I have a four hour program that is split into four parts. They are still out of order, and were fine before iTunes 9.

  16. Miami mike says:

    MMS works on my 3g now that I downloaded the new update yay yay yay yay!!! Yes!!!

  17. icebike says:

    @Miami Mike:

    Look at Settings / General / About, and tell us what Carrier version you have.

    If its 5.1, tell us that it came with this update and you didn't download that carrier file from somewhere else.

    This has nothing to do with iTunes.

  18. Roman says:

    MMS works for me as of today. 3.01 carrier hack. Works with pictures and video. Yay. Exciting. But I guess I'll still mostly use email sending them out.

  19. Jack says:

    Apple yielded to user complaints about changing the function of the green button to change the Mini Player. Good call.

  20. J-Red hates Steve jobs says:

    Blah blah blah apple is slowly finding out a way to PERMENTLY SHUT DOWN ALL OF THE JAILBROKEN PHONES. I've notice it lately sometimes when I sync my phone that iTunes will sometimes notify me that my device is failing to connect and needs to be restored but I know it's just a lie. I would like to advise all jailbroken and unlock users to wait until hackers and developers say it's safe to update iTunes. Cause one day apple gonna figure out a way to put a end to all of it and not by the restoring technIque...

  21. RWD HERO says:

    @j-red mine NEVER does that!

  22. iPhone 3G (tulliver) says:

    umm, in the UK I downloaded 9.0.1 last week...

  23. Dbkiki says:

    I have problem: Restoring iPhone software ... forever and no response on iPhone or iTunes

  24. Ian Butter says:

    GREAT update! Crashed and locked up my laptop within minutes. iphone sync very flakey. I pray for an alternative.
