I tried Tweetie 2. After about a couple of days, I ended up going back to Twittelator Pro. It has more options and has FREE upgrades. I wish I could give my Tweetie 2 to someone who could use it because I probably won't go back to it. I'll only consider it if they add number badge notifications.

Tweetie had ping.fm support, but Tweetie 2 doesn't. This is a major, major, major downside of Tweetie 2, if you ask me.

Tweetie 2 is an excellent upgrade from Tweetie 1 but it didn't blew me away enough for a full switch from Echofon Pro. considering that a lot of the new Tweetie features have been available on Echofon Pro (which already has push for mentions and DMs) for a while now, i really didn't expect to be impressed with Tweetie 2. Echofon does the notification alert even better because it actually has a counter. am also missing a lot of customizing options, like for example, setting auto-refresh every x-number of mins.

still, i got it because it's shiny and new and it does have a few things am missing from Echofon Pro like text expander and infinite tweet downloading. altho these were already in Tweetie 1.

The added features are not features at all it's mostly gimmick. Come on "pull down to refresh" added more buttons to make look like for a power users. All new app? Or just to justify that this is must be a paid upgrade for $2.99? Push is a feature that should have been added. Push is a very covenient to have being notified if you have @Replies & DMs. Don't tell me that his next update is a paid update again just to add push. Tweetie 2 no better than than the first it just more buttons that is linked to the Twitter APIs. Theme is gone meaning less work for developer to create this all new version Tweetie? Whatever! It's still a rip-off!

I think I found a bug. When doing a new tweet the contact search does nit list my entire contact list. When I search, it doesn't find many of my contacts. When I press space to obtain a list, the list only shows half of my contacts.

Anyone else having this issue?

No thanks, Twittelator Pro is better, don't have tweet count or tweet send notification. The UI is faster I give you that but what I do in one step in Twittelator Pro I have to do it in 3 steps in Tweetie 2, so no thanks again. Oh forgot themes, groups, I better stop because I'm going to keep with the bad grammars lol.

I'm a fan on Tweetie 2. It's really a well done application, but I agree with a lot of the others. I wish the themes were there. I miss the chat bubble view. It may sound lame, but it was probably my favorite part of Tweetie.

I still dont get why people insist on twitter push. Like another guy said for DM sure push me but for mentions? And regular tweet in timeline it qould be way to much push notifications it would make me want to never use twitter again. I have enough pish with beejibe than you. I do wish the dark theme would make a comeback i loved it in tweetie 1.

SimplyTweet is not the slowest loading twitter client. You probably have it set up to load all tweets since your last time. Other twitter clients stop at 100 or 200 tweets. SimplyTweet loads them all. If you haven't opened it in a day or two, it is going to load every single tweet that you haven't seen in a day or two.

As for Tweetie 2, I give it a C. No themes. No push.

Would love to be able to create my own groups- but then again every Twitter app that let's you create your own groups takes way to long to load those views. SocialScope for Blackberries is awesome-wish they would put something out for iPhone. But then again since it can't stay running in the background it would probably still take forever to load!!!! Arghhhhh!

I almost love it. It would be perfect it groups, and push were added. Other than that it's very nice. I really like the new "nearby" feature. It makes my stalking hobby that much easier.

Very impressed with the update.

Push is not everything. SMS pushes work just fine.

The amount of new options this upgrade provides easily puts it above other Twitter apps.

Very creative to be able to edit your profile pic & info from within the app.. and convenient...

Seriously? You guys want tweets pushed? Hope you have plenty of battery extenders. OK, I can see DMs being pushed, but really, I now use push GMail and it's NOT realtime and it barely makes any difference to how quickly I see emails. It does, however, make me seriously consider a battery extender.

I'm using version 1. I was hoping for 1) Groups and 2) Push notifications. But they've done neither! Extremely disappointed.

It feels more like UI polish and various plumbing. They didn't even have the sense to give a discount during the first week so version 1 users felt they'd been slapped less hard. Okay we're talking about 3 dollars but it's the principle of it.

Anyway, given they havent implemented the big features it opens the door to other developers. The first to offer groups and push with a tidy UI (with 3.0 features like landscape keyboard/browser) gets my money.

Tweetie 1 was the best before the 3.0/3GS upgrade. There have been many feature filled twitter apps since the 3.0/3GS upgrade that have been able to do what Tweetie 2 can now finally do. Twittelator for a long t ime now has been able to do what Tweetie 2 is now finally able to do and it does it better IMO.

Twittelator 1ups:

Shows a thumb nail preview in the actual tweet. You don't have to open up the persons tweet like in tweetie 2 to see a preview.
Hash tags are already connected to trends or you can create your own.
Adding users to your tweets gives you a alphabetical list of your followers and and option to search unlike tweetie 2 where you have to type in the actual user.
Almost a 100% customizable theme.
