Gift, Song -- Apple's New 100,000 Apps for Just About Anything Commercials

100,000 App for Anything Commercials

Saw these last night while watching the show that used to be House MD, new Apple iPhone "App for That" commercials focusing on Gift and Song. Of course, the tag line has been bumped from 75,000 to 100,000, and they continue with "apps for just about anything", which is likely legal cover in case "app for that" confused someone into suing over that still-missing Apple Glass Trackpad app...

Again, Apple is sticking to apps to sell iPhones, and showing off some great variety, and killer good looks while doing so. If it ain't broke don't fix it, or time for Apple advertising to switch it up?

Verizon Replies to AT&T's Lawsuit Over Attack Ads -- "The Truth Hurts"
  1. Belichick The Genius says:

Rene, it's close to 4PM here on the east coast and still no mention of the Adobe Flash 10.1 pre release build? I'd like to see a post on how Apple, and their dictatorship, are dropping the ball on yet another opportunity to enrich the Iphones web browsing experience. I don't want to hear all the fanboys moan and groan about Flash eating up CPU power either. It would be nice not having to rely on my PC to watch videos I can't watch on my Iphone.

  2. Alison says:

I think the reason that Apple doesn't want Flash on its devices is that they want people to make and buy apps, not play browser-based Flash games on Safari. If your game works over Safari, why bother selling through the App Store?

  3. ArseneKarl says:

I wanna watch web videos on my iPhone too.

I really do not want Flash on my iPhone. I want Audio/Video tags in HTML5 and native codec / controller.

For me it's about hating Flash more than supporting Apple's decision.

I do want Mobile Safari plug-ins though... Like... ClicktoFlash to KILL freaking flash if it somehow finds its way into iPhone.

    @Belichick The Genius:

And reduce my surfing speed by 50% because of all those flash based ads? no thanks.

I rely on my iPhone to do ~60%-70% of my daily surfing and I do not miss Flash one bit. Heck, even in Mac when I fire up Activity Monitor, the Flash plug-in for Safari is usually eating the most ram and CPU usage lol

  6. Kaiks says:

It would be nice to have Flash, would it be so hard to have a switch in the settings to toggle Flash on/off.

Apple's ads never state that you have to pay for many of the Apps on their ads, I find that a little misleading. I once saw an old lady in a shop buying an iPod because she saw the ad that says it can hold over 1000 songs and she asked what the songs are. She didn't have a computer let alone the Internet, luckily the rep had a soul and explained the way an MP3 player works.

  7. mystic says:

Great ads, and Apple is absolutely right to keep on milking this for as long as it can. None of the other OS's have anything much to demonstrate in this area; it's a clear open goal, and will be for some time.

  8. Lady Kaede says:

It would indeed be nice to watch those Flash-enabled videos on my IPhone (or as my daughter calls hers, the "ifo") - bit I agree with the majority, enable them with something thinner and better than Flash. Love it, but don't need it.

Ads are just fine. What's not to like?
