iBooks 1.1.1 hits App Store

iBooks 1.1.1

Apple has just set iBooks 1.1.1 loose in the App Store. A point release, it does sneak in some nice functionality none-the-less:

  • Double-tap an image within a book to view it in greater detail.
  • Experience books that include audio and video.
  • Enjoy substantial performance improvements when reading PDFs.
  • Look-up definitions to English words inside books without a specified language.
  • Addresses an issue that may have caused some book downloads to not complete.
  • Includes many stability and performance improvements.

If you're trying it out, let us know how it works for you.

[iTunes, thanks @daveizzle!]

Mom of Naax2 says:

I love this app. I was reading a book and my hubby was all like, " you're obessessed with that damn phone!" I replied, "honey, I'm reading a book on the best phone on the planet!"

Holy F#)$(*... we haven't spoken about antennagate for like almost a day now. What am I going to do now... try find someone that actually reads consumer reports? oh wait, looks like some of the other blogs aren't over it yet - lets go over there and play with those poor losers.
Nice work tipb on moving on.

JD says:

Oops, except for @CWagz... apparently this guy thinks its still funny. Probably wears cargo pants too.

CWagz says:

I get my refurb 3GS tomorrow so I will be fine as well... iPhone 4 went back to the store. Too bad books are not going to look as good on the 3GS screen.

CWagz says:

@JD yeah I thought it was funny... I am just one of those crazy geeks that has 5 PCs in my house and the only Apple product I have every owned was my iPhone 3G - which I really liked. Sold the 3G when I preordered the 4. Got the 4 on the 23rd and within 5 minutes was going nuts seeing "No Service". Starting searching the net on the 24th and realized I wasn't the only one that couldn't hold my new phone in my left hand same as I had my 3G for the last 2 years. Not gonna reward Apple for screwing up. If we reward companies for screwing up they will take us all for granted and have no reason to produce a superior product...

Nice update, but still waiting on a Spanish dictionary. Don't understand why Spanish, Italian, German, etc. dictionaries weren't included in the beginning.

Still no paid titles in the Irish store.

igorsky says:

I know this is a bit trivial...but has anyone figured out how to get back to the cover page of a PDF when it's on the "bookcase"? I know when you originally add a PDF you see the cover, but then there doesn't seem to be a way to get back. I thought this new update would make it easier but it hasn't. Thanks in advance.

Sam Irizarry says:

I would like to put custom covers on PDFs just like I do with books.

jimmi says:

I honestly can’t see why would any want to use this app having Stanza available? Don’t tell me you actually buy books from the Apple’s store. Apple shamelessly sells many titles at the same price (if not more!) as you can buy printed copies for and people buy from Apple any way… Come on!
