Everything you need to know about Apple's iTunes, including iTunes desktop software on Windows and Mac, iTunes Store on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, and iTunes in the Cloud on iCloud

iTunes started off as Apple's desktop music player for Mac but has since become so much — perhaps too much! — more. iTunes on the desktop now runs on Mac and Windows, and in addition to playing your music, TV shows, Movies, podcasts, and more, also manages and syncs all of that, as well as apps and games, to your iOS devices via USB. The iTunes Store, which on the desktop includes the App Store and the iBookstore, is where you buy all your content. And if you're using iCloud, it's where you re-download iTunes in the Cloud, and manage iTunes Match.

Fliq Application Now Available on App Store

Let me just start off by saying, no this will not take the place of a real MMS app. I think that ball is in Apple's court. But Fliq will come in handy if you have a few friends with iPhones and are connected to the same WiFi network.

What is Fliq? Fliq was created by Mark/Space and is a "social networking application that allows iPhone and iPod touch users to instantly send, or "beam", photos and contacts to one another".

TiPb AT WORK: Jaadu VNC vs Mocha VNC

[This is a TiPb AT WORK App vs. App Review! Last week, it was the To Do/Task App Showdown, with Things squeaking out the victory. But which blog commenter won a copy of the winning To Do/Task App? Alex! Congratulations!

This week, the TiPb iPhone Forums voted on their favorite Remote Desktop/VNC Apps, we took the top two, and now they're going head-to-head. But wait -- there's more! One of the forum voters has already won a copy of the winning App... Congrats avt! Want another chance to win? COMMENT BELOW! and make sure you leave a valid email address in the comment form -- it won't be made public, but it will be used to contact you if you win! Check out the full contest details, then grab your iPhone and get ready to get things done -- the TiPb AT WORK Remote Desktop/VNC Showdown is on!]

Like Brian, I use my iPhone for just about everything. So wouldn't it be nice to use your iPhone to access your computer(s) when you are not at your desk? At work (no pun intended) I rotate with team members to "take" call, meaning, if something needs resolved on a weekend or evening, it is up to me to fix it. My work does not currently supply a broadband card, so it is up to my own devices to have Internet access wherever I go to remote into my PC. The VNC applications Jaadu and Mocha allow me to do just that! For those of you that don't know what VNC is, it allows you to remotely control another computer. Now, this ability is available on your iPhone (side rant, why doesn't Apple give us this ability as part of our MobileMe subscriptions? Ah, I digress...)

I can now leave my laptop behind and just use my iPhone to connect to my work laptop at home or my iMac desktop and save the day! Let's take a look at these two VNC apps!

Any of you looking to add some life to your iPhone's camera with some new options? It is no secret that the camera lacks any type of features besides point and click. So once again, where Apple let us down, a 3rd party developer comes to our rescue.

Today on the Forums: Must Read For Jailbreakers, iPhone Attachable Keyboard, When to Expect the 2.2 Firmware

Our iPhone Forums have been busy as of late, so lets get things going...

Jailbreaking has been a very popular topic lately here on TiPb. So, it's fitting that everyone interested in that topic check out the thread and click on the link. There are a few pieces of software out there today that allow you to Jailbreak. Personally and for most of the TiPb Team QuickPwn is the popular choice, and we tend to avoid "others" out there. This must-read link for iPhone jailbreakers will tell you why.

iPhone App Avalanche 14: Accounts, iXpenseIt, Bloomberg Mobile and CreditTrak

It's time for App Avalanche 14, and this week we're taking a look at the Finance category in the App Store and at what's Good, Better, Best, and, of course, the CrApp. If you are looking for some good finance apps, there are a load of apps in the App Store in this category. Unfortunately, there seem to be a ton of very mediocre apps (according to reviews left by App Store visitors), and it takes a bit of sifting through the coal dust to find some diamonds. Read on to learn about some Finance apps you may want to try for yourself!

Can iPhone Developers Make a Living on the App Store's "Long Tail"? - TiPb of the Iceberg

("Unique" by Hamed Masoumi, licensed under Creative Commons)

[Introducing TiPb of the Iceberg, our new, bi-weekly column from TiPb Senior Editor, and all-around Smartphone Expert, Dieter Bohn.]

The recent news that development house Tap Tap Tap is breaking up has me thinking about the App Store and developers again. Partially it's because Tap Tap Tap has previously been mentioned here at TiPb as an example of developers raking in the cash and as an example of developers being open about how much they're making and what they think of the industry. The break-up is interesting for a few reasons in this context.

After the break, some ruminations and thoughts on the State of the Apps from this layman's point of view. Warning: as you can see from the title, this post includes hackneyed references to the Long Tail

App Preview: Qik About to Stream Live on the iPhone? Join Kevin Now!

Yup, Kevin Rose is back, back again, this time with a sneak peak at Qik for the iPhone, the online video broadcasting App that everyone and their Twitter-feed was "going live" with on the Nokia N95 last year.

Not a jailbreak, but a real honest-to-Steveness App Store application, Kevin says it will be available soon. We say... will Apple approve it? And if they do, what will it say having internet broadcast video capability on a device that still lacks support for local video recording?

Who knows? As Dieter points out, Apple's cagey approval/rejection process is still incomprehensible.
