10 years ago today Apple shipped iTunes for Windows, and hell froze over

10 years ago today iTunes shipped for Windows. Slightly more than 10 years ago, an argument rippled through the ranks of Apple over whether or not to do just that - to make their new music platform accessible to their rival's all-but-eclipsing computing platform, or to keep Apple's iPod unique to Apple's Mac. Chris Fralic excerpting from Max Chafkin's Design Crazy:

Previously lost episodes of the classic Doctor Who series recovered and now available on iTunes

For those of you out there who are Doctor Who fans, you may already know that for years now the BBC has been looking to recover many of the early episodes from the long-running British science-fiction television programme. Back in the 1960's and 1970's episodes were wiped or otherwise destroyed due to a number of various reasons with the biggest ones being economic and space-saving concerns at the BBC.

Over the years, many episodes have been recovered from various parts of the world thanks to how the content was transferred and shared back then and the number of missing episodes had been reduced to 106. That number has stayed the same for a while now and many folks had come to the conclusion that there simply must not be any more out there to be found.

iTunes Radio for iOS review

Apple launched iTunes Radio for both iPhone and iPad as part of the Music app in iOS 7. iTunes Radio is Apple's attempt at giving us a streaming music service that's already bundled with the Music app we already know and use every day.

Considering iTunes is one of the largest music collections in the world, it makes perfect sense. Even better, for iTunes Match subscribers, the service is completely free with not one single ad. For those that don't subscribe to iTunes Match, it's still free, just ad supported. It's a compelling option either way but does it live up to the hype?

Apple refunding Breaking Bad final season passes with iTunes credit

When the final season episodes of Breaking Bad appeared on iTunes with a new season pass, and a new price, there were some customers who felt a little outraged. The final season of the hit AMC show has been split in two parts, and many thought that purchasing a pass for the first part would also entitle them to the final eight episodes airing this year. This wasn't the case, but now, in an email obtained by 9to5Mac Apple is informing customers of a refund:

iTunes Radio for Mac OS X and Windows PC review

First announced in June at WWDC 2013, iTunes Radio has been in private beta ever since, accessible only by registered iOS developers. With the public release of iOS 7 and iTunes 11.1, iTunes Radio is now ready for the big time. Sadly, the service is still U.S. only at this point, though with Apple's global reach in the music space already, we can't imagine it being the case for too long.
