DOOORS for iPhone review: A great puzzle game for fans of Crimson Room

DOOORS for iPhone is a puzzle game that requires some thinking and a good eye in order to get you through one door and on to another. Anyone who has ever played Crimson Room will most likely find DOOORS vaguely familiar. Each door opens differently and you'll have to figure out how by using the clues you're given each round.

Letterpress by Atebits, the word game darling of geeks everywhere, has been updated to version 1.3. New features include the ability to shake to shuffle letters (credited to developer Loren Brichter's wife -- don't ask about the dance!), a new high-contrast theme, the ability to view replays in Safari or Chrome, and some behind the scenes awesomizing of an undisclosed nature.

If you're already playing Letterpress, grab the update now. If not, head on over to the App Store and try it. It's free, and it's spectacular.

That's right, you now get to pick your own soundtrack. They've also added volume sliders for both music and sound effects, so unlike movies and commercials, you can control the relative values of what you hear.

Quento for iPhone and iPad review

Quento is a fun little math game that is a great challenge for all levels and ages. The objective is simple: use the available numbers and operations to get the indicated result with the indicated amount of numbers. However, not only are you restricted to the available numbers and operations, but you have to be able to create the expression by dragging your finger over them in one swipe -- and order of operations matters!

Hundreds for iPhone and iPad review

Hundreds is a new puzzle game by Semi Secret Software where the goal is to make enough of the circles in each level to grow to at least 100 points total between them. But here's the catch, when a circle is growing, it becomes very volatile and cannot make contact with anything while being grown. If a collision occurs, it's game over.

Letterpress by Atebits review

Letterpress is deceptively simple. A five-by-five grid of letters is laid out on the screen. You and your opponent have full visibility to the board, and must make words out of the letters provided. As you do, those letters are colored in—blue for your letters, red for theirs—and each move steals letters back, affecting the letter-count score at the top of the screen. Things get slightly trickier when the letters on the four sides of a played letter are also played in the same color, when the lock-in effect causes the center to go darker. In this case, the letter can still be played, but no points transfer. Each word must consist of at least two letters, and no word can be re-played.

Amazing Alex from Rovio coming to the iOS App Store July 12

Amazing Alex is the new game from Rovio -- they make Angry Birds, maybe you've heard of it? -- and it's coming to the App Store tomorrow, July 12. It's a physics puzzler, which is right in Rovio's wheelhouse, and if it's anywhere nearly as compelling as Angry Birds, it will no doubt cost lots of us lots of sleepless nights.

Tiny Wings 2 teased for July 12 -- with old fashioned charm

Breakout indie gaming hit Tiny Wings was a 2011 iMore Editor's Choice Award winner, so you better believe we're looking forward to Tiny Wings 2. July 12 is the big day, according to developer Andreas Illiger.

Part of what made the original Tiny Wings so great was its simple, hand-crafted charm. Just a bird, momentum, mountains, and a race against the setting sun. That same charm positively explodes from the old fashioned teaser just released for the sequel.
