FireCore has announced that it has now updated its Seas0nPass jailbreak tool and its aTV Flash Apple TV software which now supports the latest version of iOS for the Apple TV. Apple rolled out iOS 5.2 which is actually iOS 6.1 for the Apple TV last month and if you were jailbroken prior to this, you hadn’t been able to upgrade.
FireCore has released another update to its hugely popular software for jailbroken second generation Apple TV's (2010, 720p version). The new 1.6 release includes a raft of new features and improvements, the most interesting being the ability to download subtitles for movies in your collection on the fly.
Seas0nPass, the popular jailbreak tool for the 2010 Apple TV (720p) has just received an update that will allow it to jailbreak the latest Apple TV software. Apple has just released the Apple TV software update taking it to version 5.0.1; it is actually version 5.1.1 inline with other iOS devices but Apple still files the version numbers differently for whatever reason.
If you updated your Apple TV recently to 5.0 (iOS 5.1) you can now jailbreak it again. FireCore has just updated their popular Seas0nPass jailbreak tool to offer tethered support for the newest firmware on the second generation Apple TV. If you picked up a new Apple TV, you'll have to sit this one out for now.

If you've been hanging onto older software on your Apple TV 2 for fear of losing your Jailbreak or simply not wanting a tethered solution, then the day has come where you no longer need to worry about that. The fine folks from Firecore have updated Seas0nPass to make use of @pod2g's latest work and as such -- now have a untethered jailbreak of the latest 4.4.4 (iOS 5.0.1) AppleTV software. As a reminder, here is what's new with the 4.4.4 update:
If you're a jailbroken AppleTV user, aTV Flash is definitely something you'll want to check out. It adds a great deal of functionality to your AppleTV and it just got a huge update. Outside of a bunch of bug fixes, the update adds new custom view options, web page auto-load, playback improvements, and much more.
FireCore has updated its aTV Flash (Black) software to RC1, which adds a number of new features including a new grid view browsing mode, subtitle related improvements and most importantly, a huge list of performance and playback related improvements.
Seas0nPass has been updated and it now supports a tethered jailbreak of the latest Apple TV iOS 5 software versions 4.4, 4.41 and 4.42. Unfortunately the jailbreak is a tethered solution which means if you have to reboot your Apple TV it will need to be connected to iTunes before you can use it again. Not that much of a deal for the Apple TV as reboots should be few and far between.
If you currently jailbreak your Apple TV 2, you may have held off from applying the recent Apple software update to avoid losing your jailbreak. The good news is, Seas0nPass has now been updated to support an untethered jailbreak with the latest iOS 4.3 for Apple Tv 2. Thrown into the update is a new version of fireCore's Media Player which allows you to playback many more media formats with a whole host of options.
