Twitter designer finds Facebook for iPhone imitation decidedly unflattering

Facebook for iPhone, which previously took heat for making their Places icon a little too 4-squared, is now being called out by mobile designer Bryan Haggerty for copying Twitter's photo sharing UI.

Seriously Facebook? http://pic.twitter.com/0ifNsdY

Ok Facebook, enough with the flattery. http://pic.twitter.com/vSyHdpH

Tweetbot 1.6 brings Tweetmarker support

Tweetbot - A Twitter Client with Personality has just updated to version 1.6 and with it, brings Tweetmarker support. Tweetmarker is a service that marks the last read tweet in your timeline so that it can be synced between other Twitter clients.

Since its release, Tweetbot has been my favorite Twitter client on the iPhone. Tweetmarker is a great addition to the app and I look forward to what future updates may bring.

Twitterrific for iPhone and iPad now syncs across devices

Twitterrific for iPhone and iPad has been updated with Tweet Marker, a new feature that syncs timeline positions across all versions.

This new feature makes me really excited! To me, it's a no-brainer for developers to include this ability with their Twitter apps and I look forward to it becoming the norm. Now if Twitterrific would just add native push notifications, it'd be pretty darn close to perfect.

Details and screenshots after the break.

Poll: Which social networks do you use regularly?

Facebook is the most popular app on the iPhone and we've often said Twitter and iOS go together like chocolate and peanut butter. But social networks rise and fall. Remember MySpace, Jaiku, Buzz... Friendster? And hey, how about Google+ now that it's expanding beyond the techie early adopters, or LinkedIn which seems to always hover neither here nor there.

iPad users that use, 'twitter.com' in safari, instead of the downloadable iPad app will be getting a new HTML5 web app in the next few weeks

However Twitter announced on the 'Twitter Mobile' twitter account that they have begun rolling out a new HTML5 based web UI specifically for the iPad, which should reach all users in the coming weeks.

Twitter loses Reportage for iPhone

Reportage was WhereCloud's insanely creative iPhone Twitter app that let users "tune in" to other users' timeline -- like a radio station for tweets. I say was because Twitter's swerve away from the developer friendliness that helped them build their platform and their rapid acceleration into ownership plays that may -- or may not -- help them ensure its future has led WhereCloud to stop development.

Martin Dufort, who TiPb interviewed as part of our Developer Spotlight series two weeks ago, explains it was the the culmination of 4 changes by Twitter that led to his company's decision:

  1. Twitter stopped allowing modifications to the timeline, so ads couldn't be inserted, and more importantly in Reportages case, their re-ordering to present individual timeline "broadcasts" could be seen as a violation.
