The Array by Hampton Smart Lock is a smarter deadbolt for your front door

Hampton just announced that its Array by Hampton Connected Door Lock is now available for purchase at ACE Hardware, through their site at and via Amazon. This latest addition to the company's foray into smart home products is the first of several planned products to be released later this year and in 2019.

This smart lock was designed by consumers and for consumers. Now, deadlocks like these for your front door aren't exactly new, yet many of the ones on the market can seem a bit clunky to use. The Array by Hampton was created to solve problems found in those other products. One nice example of that is in its capability of being used right out of the box. You won't need to purchase a separate hub or bridge for it to work as it features built-in Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Array by Hampton app will show new users a four-minute instructional video which will tell them all they need to know about installing and operating the new lock. With the app, you'll be able to easily create e-keys and e-codes for guests to gain access to your home, activate geofencing, check whether your door is locked and how often it's opened, schedule access that will be revoked at a specific time, and more. The app even allows you to control multiple locks and monitor battery status.

Its battery life was a major concern as well, and Hampton came through for its customers by including two rechargeable and replaceable lithium polymer batteries with the lock's purchase. It's equipped with an integrated solar panel that can recharge the battery without needing any assistance, while the extra battery you receive will be helpful to store away in case you ever have issues with the first.

Another great feature of the lock is in its ability to connect to the Apple Watch, allowing you to two-tap lock or unlock your door. That comes in super helpful when your hands are full with groceries for instance. You can also connect an Amazon Echo device to lock the door using your voice. You'd even be able to ask Alexa whether your door is locked or not.

The lock comes in two different styles: the modern 'Cooper' and the more traditional 'Barrington'. Each style comes in three different colors making it a bit easier to find the right match for your front door. Amazon is now accepting orders on select versions of the lock at $289.99.
