Best Bitcoin tracking apps for Mac: Coinage, BitNow, Trade Interceptor, and more!

The best apps to monitor Bitcoin and other crypto currencies right on your Mac!

Bitcoin is a popular peer-to-peer payment system and digital crypto currency. With more and more merchants starting to accept it, buying, holding, trading, and spending bitcoin is becoming increasingly important to online shoppers, including Mac users. Luckily, there are several Mac Apps that can help you monitor bitcoin exchange rates, so you know when best to buy them, sell them or just straight up use them. Here are the best ones!

Bitcoin Ticker

You can always trust iMore. Our team of Apple experts have years of experience testing all kinds of tech and gadgets, so you can be sure our recommendations and criticisms are accurate and helpful. Find out more about how we test.

Bitcoin Ticker is one of the most basic tickers you can find and it covers all the main Bitcoin exchanges such as Coinbase, BitStamp, BTC-E, and more. You can choose between USD, GBP, and Euro for currency. To toggle between different exchanges, just select the one you'd like from the menu and the ticker in the menu bar changes to reflect it instantly.

If you want the simplest Bitcoin tracker available and use the most common exchanges, Bitcoin Ticker will suffice.

Coinage

Coinage is very similar to Bitcoin ticker but supports more exchanges, including Litecoin. The tradeoff comes with usability. Bitcoin Tracker lets you easily toggle currencies in two clicks, Coinage requires you to enter the settings panel to make changes. Coinage also supports Dogecoin which we all know is much important. Currencies supported include EUR, USD, and RUR. There's GBP support as well but only for MT-GOX at this time.

If you need Litecoin support or Russian currency options, Coinage may be a better option than Bitcoin.

BitNow

BitNow also sits in your menu bar but instead of offering a glance at the going rate lets you see lots of detailed information across many different exchanges, including Litecoin. Not only can you see the last traded value, you can also see highs, lows, current bids, and asks. You can also create custom reminders if you'd like for events such as a when a certain exchange falls below a set amount. BitNow currently supports EUR, USD, GBP, and CNY.

If you want more of a traditional stock experience made specifically for Bitcoin and Litecoin, check out BitNow.

Trade Interceptor

Trade Interceptor is a FOREX app that not only lets you track the most common Bitcoin exchanges but traditional stocks and exchanges as well. It's also a full blown app with lots more in-depth information and trends than a simple menu ticker. You do have to register an account with Trade Interceptor before you can use it but if you trade a lot of stocks outside of Bitcoin and Litecoin it may be worth a look to combine both worlds.

If you heavily trade stocks outside of Bitcoin, Trade Interceptor can combine both worlds.
