Live streaming app Periscope is rolling out some new features intended to boost the experience of checking out replay broadcasts. One of the main new features included in the latest update is "Replay Highlights," which create a "short trailer" for each replay, Periscope says. This should give you a good idea of what to expect from a replay before diving in for more, or simply make combing through your feed to find the best bits much faster.

Here's a look at what's new in the latest update to Periscope:

  • "Highlights" is a new feature that automatically creates a short trailer of each Periscope replay. You can watch Highlights of your home feed to quickly catch up on broadcasts you missed, Highlights of somebody's Periscope profile to see a quick series of their previous broadcasts, or Highlights for any search result (like "#Turkey") to get a convenient overview of any topic.
  • Find people in your phone's Address Book who are using Periscope. We think Periscope is better with friends, so we've made it easier to find them! Tap on the People section to sync your address book.
  • Flipping between front and rear facing camera is much smoother.
  • We've updated the "Report Broadcast" feature to let you specify why a broadcast should be flagged for our team to review. Thanks for helping us upholding our content guidelines!

In addition to the above, Periscope says that autoplay will be coming to the Watch Tab and Global Feed in a future update. With autoplay, videos will start playing without sound as you scroll through each feed, letting you peek in before deciding what to watch. For now, you can check out the new Highlights feature, along with everything else that's new, by grabbing the update at the App Store link below.
