Tim Cook runner-up in Time Magazine’s Person of the Year 2012

Tim Cook has finished in the second runners-up spot for this years’ Time Magazine Person of the Year award. Time Magazine has announced that this year’s outright winner would be US President Barack Obama. Time then revealed its four runners-up and in order they were Malala Yousafzai, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi and Italian physicist Fabiola Gianotti, respectively.

Last night, US television network NBC ran the first ever official television interview with Apple CEO Tim Cook. Unfortunately if you're outside of the United States or were out for the evening, you may have missed it. Luckily some kind sole has captured the complete interview and shared it on YouTube. As it is not an official release, it may get taken down fairly quickly so if you are interested in what Tim Cook has to say, don't hand around to watch it.

Apple offering select employees two week breaks to work on their own special projects

Apple has begun a new program which will offer certain employees time off from their normal day to day responsibilities to work on their own projects. The move is seen as very similar to a Google initiative where its employees can spend twenty percent of their time working on side projects in the hope that they may help the company in the future.

Tim Cook has apparently unveiled some new Apple employee benefits at yesterdays Town Hall meeting. According to 9to5Mac, the meeting was all about giving something back to the people who worked so hard to put Apple where it is today; one of the wealthiest businesses in the world.
