Review 15: X-Men

Review is like app or game coverage but for movie series, television shows, comic books, and other geeky entertainment. It's great stuff you can watch and enjoy on your phone, tablet, or connected TV! On this week's episode Clayton Morris joins Georgia, Guy, Dave, and Rene to talk X-Men. X-Men: Days of Future Past is in theaters now โ€” Here's how to catch up on iTunes!

X-Men: Days of Future Past is an attempt to fuse the original X-Men movies โ€” at least the first two good ones โ€” with the X-Men: First Class relaunch from a couple of years ago. As much as the first X-Men movie helped kick off the modern superhero blockbuster, FOX did everything they could to kill it, including and especially rushing X-Men: The Last Stand out the door with an almost scorched-earth agenda, and making an X-Men Origins Movie so bad most of us wished we had healing factors. First class had a middling cast of mutants but a good cast of actors and The Wolverine actually managed to redeem the spin-off. So, is X-Men: Days of Future Past really the mutant movie we've been waiting for?

X-Men: Days of Future Past teaser goes live. Catch-up now on iTunes!

X-Men: Days of Future Past is one of the greatest story arcs from one of the greatest eras of the comic, the Claremont/Byrne days, and it's being adapted into the next film in the movie franchise. Bryan Singer has returned to the director's chair, and the original cast is returning to join the cast from X-Men: First Class. Beyond that, all we have to go on is the very first teaser trailer, above. The beginning and end give me chills. The middle... dunno. Movies typically serve too many masters and agendas to nail story these days. I have hope. My claws are crossed. But I'll enjoy it when I see it. In the meantime, if you've never seen the X-Men movies, or you just want to see them again, iTunes has you covered:

The Wolverine is in theaters now, here's how to catch up on iTunes

The Wolverine, the sequel to the original X-Men trilogy, the X-Men: First Class reboot, and the X-Men Origins: Wolverine film, is now in theaters, putting Hugh Jackman back behind the claws of everyone's favorite berserker Canadian mutant. Based on Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's seminal Wolverine mini series, which first brought elements of Samurai to the character, it could be the best of the series to date. Or it could be a fastball special straight to box-office bomb. We'll have to watch and see. In the meantime, you can get your fill of all the cinematic X-Men and Wolverine action to date, as well as the comic that started it all, right from iTunes today!
