What you need to know

  • Pokémon Legends: Arceus is an open-world Pokémon game set in feudal Sinnoh.
  • The region, called Hisui, is home to special regional variants of Pokémon.
  • The newest Hisuian Pokémon to be revealed are Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark.

After a creepy video set in the Hisuian region of Pokémon Legends: Arceus showed grainy footage of Pokémon found in the region, the Pokémon community immediately set off trying to discern what kind of Pokémon the videographer could be describing.

The man behind the camera breathlessly remarks, "It's adorable. The white fur on top of its head and around its neck is so fluffy... Its eyes are round and yellow..."

After much speculation, The Pokémon Company finally revealed the "restored" footage, showing the mysterious Pokémon found by the researcher.

The new Pokémon are what seem to be new Hisuian forms of Zorua and Zoroark. Originally stemming from the Unova region where Pokémon Black, White, Black 2 and White 2 are set, these Pokémon are known for their ability to shapeshift, as well as their mischievous temperament.

While not officially stated on the Pokémon Legends: Arceus website, some media outlets like Serebii.net claim that these new Hisuian forms are Normal/Ghost types. This gives them immunity to Fighting, Normal, and Ghost types, which will be interesting to see in upcoming competitive circles. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is set to release on January 28, 2022, with more details to come in the coming months.
