iPad launch day: 300,000 iPads, 250,000 iBooks sold, 1,000,000 apps downloaded
Apple has just announced that they sold 300,000 iPads on launch day, including pre-orders delivered straight to the door, and sales made at Apple Retail Stores and partners like Best Buy. In addition, over 250,000 iBooks were bought and over 1,000,000 App Store apps were downloaded to iPads. Says Steve Jobs:
“It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world—it’s going to be a game changer. iPad users, on average, downloaded more than three apps and close to one book within hours of unpacking their new iPad.”
Congratulations to Apple on the launch, and for successfully pushing the iPhone OS further than many thought possible. It will be interesting to watch what happens now, post-launch. We know one thing right now, however -- we here at TiPb downloaded a truckload more apps than average, how about you?

I was a naysayer, then I used one. It's pretty damn incredible. I bought one almost immediately. Yeah it's the same operating system as the iPhone, but I'm telling you, the apps look incredible...Internet is amazing. I haven't used my laptop once since buying my iPad...I guess I will just use it as a typewriter now. Lol.
okay now that the IPADS "ooohs and aaahhhs" are over can we have sum IPHONE NEWZ....
I got one paid app (plants vs zombies) as i didn't want to invest too much into something still in trial period so to speak.
I didn't want to buy it, but after I see some apps being developed....I might pull some money for one
wait 2 weeks so the crowded lines will die down.
Congratulations to Apple.
And another reason to not to trust any information coming from Gene Munster.
I got one for my wife.. Downloaded 10 apps, including 6 free! Not a single book yet!
300,000 were sold but at least one was beaten to a pulp so it was really 299,999.
Wow, only 300K? Les than half than what was expected. Good to see I can probably goto any best buy and get one if I wanted to.

I wonder what the haters are gonna say about this now. Its only going to get better for Apple once the 3G version is released and 4.0 comes out.

@DRAGONFLY .. I dont' think anyone in their right mind thought the Ipad would not sell .. especially not initially
I was also a naysayer about the iPad until I used it Saturday at an Apple store. I am for sure going to buy one soon. I am hesitant only because I know in a year a new one will emerge and probably with a camera and other cool features.
I was shaking my head as I watched everyone run with that 700,000 number, knowing how Munster came to that conclusion. Even the 300, 000 number Apple stated was "shipped" not sold. I'm hearing I can pretty much walk into any location and pick one up right now if I wanted.
Congratulations to Apple.
