iOS 7 will debut on time, of course

While I ascribe to the theory of multiple universes, and there may indeed be several in which Apple is a clown made entirely of candy, in precisely none of them was iOS 7 not going to debut on time. If you need any more evidence of that, I give your Mr. John Paczkowski of AllThingsD:

“Yes, yes — it’s essentially a repeat of the iPhone/Leopard scenario,” one source said, referring to Apple’s 2007 decision to pull engineers from OS X 10.5 to work on iPhone. “Not as much of a fire drill, though. It will ship on time.”

And Mr. Jim Dalrymple of The Loop:

Until Apple announces something, it can't be "delayed". If they're not meeting internal schedules, if they're adding resources from other projects, if they're pushing features out to future versions, if they're doing any number of things a company their size does when working on a project of iOS' size, that's not "delayed", that's "development".

It's happened before, it'll happen again. Year after year after year, it's mind blowing how this keeps being a story. The day Apple isn't racing flat-out for the finish line is the day I'll start to worry.

I can only guess that you are not involved in software development. I don't mean this disrespectfully, just that, often times, throwing bodies at a problem does nothing to help deliver on time, it just destroys your budget.

exactly. the mythical man month. I have no idea why Apple continues to ignore this (assuming the rumor is true).

It's scary to think an actual date is the deciding factor on when iOS 7 will be released as opposed to when it's ready.

100% agree. The big two things people are bashing Apple for these days are iOS 7 being delayed (like you, I am of the mind that an assumed but unannounced product can not be delayed - the white iPhone 4? Yes, that was delayed). The second? That iOS 'flattened' = Windows Phone 8, even when all the evidence of what iOS 'flattened' looks like is present in version 3.0

I agree. It seems to always be a rumor then "magically" Apple always delivers on schedule. It's crazy the amount of press these rumors get year after year.

Re: "It's happened before, it'll happen again."

The difference being Forstall's ejection. Along with his pet skeuomorphisms.
Good riddance.

Ok, the guy fathers Mac OS X, creates the Aqua interface and fights for a dedicated phone OS, later knows as iOS, and gets a "goor riddance" for his skeuomorphisms?

I guess a few ungrateful and forgetful people also said "good riddance" to Steve Jobs in 85.

ya know, a lot of people are saying hooray for this skeuomorphism being gone and getting taken off the iPhone. But unless its done within a way that doesn't make it look boring and ugly, I personally rather have it stay. I mean, if the apps are going to look like the little icons that come up in the photos app when you tap the action button? The ones that are "print" "copy" or "wallpaper"? Those are blah, boring and ugly. I don't want my entire iphone homescreen to look like those dull grey icons. And to be honest, I don't know why anyone would.

We keep hearing that its not a total overhaul. It's going to be a basic app launcher sort of speak. But then its the rumors that it'll have a windows phone look. Ok, i'm good with that. But that phone has some bright colors to it. It's got information at a glance. It's ok. But to me grey icons isn't a "windows phone look". To me anyways.

I just don't get it. Yea the green felt in game center is stupid, but game center in general is stupid. And who cares if the News stand app looks like a wooden shelf? I care more about hiding the damn app than what it looks like. I just hope that Ive is concentrating just as hard and giving just as much effort to giving us great new features that will make us "oooh and awww" over, as he's taking all this time and effort into "flattening" it and make it dull looking.

People don't know what they want until they read it on the internet 1000 times. Everyone supposedly so offended by skeuomorphism didn't realize they didn't like it until they heard it was tacky on several blogs and podcasts.

@ Rene- You do know punctuation at the end of a quotation goes inside it, right? For an example, reference the cited material from AllThingsD.

may be apple just wants to test ios7 that's why some of osX engineers are Peking pulled out to prevent any mishappening like in the ios 6..
