iOS 5 features: Use your headset with remote as a camera shutter release

When Apple announced that iOS 5 would let you snap pictures with the volume up button, it was only a matter of time before some enterprising developers discovered the ability to use a headset equipped with volume remote control as a camera shutter release.

Using the stock Apple headphones that come with your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, you simply:

  1. Open the Camera app
  2. Click the volume up remote to release the shutter
  3. Enjoy your long distance picture taking power

So camera enthusiasts, is this a big deal for you or just a nice to have? Will it change the way you take pictures with your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad?

Daily Tip: How to use ipswDownloader to download iOS firmware and determine your correct Jailbreak utility [Jailbreak]

ipswDownloader is a shining example of a great utility that allows jailbreakers to download firmware (.ipsw) files easily and quickly. On top of that, it also tells you what jailbreak utility you should use in order to jailbreak (and/or unlock) your device. This is especially convenient if you're using something like PwnageTool that requires you to have an ipsw file in order to create a custom firmware bundle. This is highly common among unlockers.

This can be great for beginner jailbreakers that may feel a bit overwhelmed by the amount of jailbreak tools available. "What jailbreak utility do I need to use?" is probably the number one question we get asked here at TiPb. I really think this tool will come in handy for anyone from beginners to advanced users that really just want an easy and convenient way to download firmware files. Hit the jump for a download link and a quick walk-through.

Untethered iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak shown on video

Jailbreakers have been patiently waiting for an easier jailbreak option on iOS 4.3. We are already aware there are working exploits but no easy process has been released. Now it appears iOS developer Stefan Esser is showing off a working iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak on video. For the demo, he used an iPod Touch fourth gen.

Don't get your hopes up too high as he doesn't plan to release it any time soon, if at all. He has stated before he has no intention of releasing a jailbreak tool but that he would offer up an untether solution. This may even be possible via a Cydia package. Hit the jump for a video of the jailbreak in action!
