Apple's Claim to the Letter "i" - Rejected

Apple's claim to the letter "i" has come to a screeching halt as a trademarks tribunal has rejected the company's bid to stop a small company from using their favorite letter of the alphabet.

This particular company wanted to name it's cases for Apple products DOPi, which is iPod spelled backwards. Apple's argument was that the DOPi name resembled their own products too closely and that it had potential to confuse consumers that they were purchasing a Apple product.

Apple.com Adds iPad to Menu, iPod and iTunes Now Separate

iPod + iTunes is dead on the Apple.com menu, long live iPod | iPhone | iPad | iTunes. (And yes, Mac is still there too).

The all new iPad section coincides with the launch of pre-orders and pickups today, and links to all the content previously available at apple.com/ipad via the homepage. The broken out iPod and iTunes section lets Apple focus on the devices (with the iPod touch front and center) on the former, and the iTunes software and store on the latter.

Student Makes iPod Explode During Class

A high school student had her iPod explode on her desk yesterday and luckily not a single student was injured. This is not the first time we've heard of exploding iPods or iPhones but this particular case seems to be a little different so don't be so quick to blame Apple. Gizmodo points out that another student has told the true story.

<

blockquote>"The iPod did not just explode. It was broken so a kid took the entire thing apart and was rubbing wires against the battery, which became very hot, then exploded. This is not a faulty product that caused a danger to people. This was bored kids, in a classroom with a substitute all week, who found a dangerous way to entertain themselves."

Apple Ending Clickwheel iPod Games?

Could Apple be ending the old-school clickwheel iPod games? Perhaps, according to a comment by developer Square Enix:

the iPhone Song Summoner contains both Song Summoner and Song Summoner 2, which was never released due to Apple ending support for click wheel games.

No doubt iPhone and iPod touch gaming has become a juggernaut, and the traditional iPod nano and iPod classic are slowly winding down in popularity. But is this the first portent of Apple going all-in with the iPhone OS platform?

Rumor: iPod Cameras Delayed

Could the long-rumored cameras being added to the iPod touch, iPod nano, and even iPod classic have hit a snag, leading to a delay that might effect Apple's "It's only rock and roll but we like it" special music event planned for Wednesday?

AppleInsider, citing a "person with a strong track record in predicting Apple's upcoming product launches" (PWASTRIPAUPL), is rumoring just that:

Apple to Exploding iPhones: Screen Pressure not Battery to Blame

Apple has finished their investigation in the case of the exploding iPhones/Pods and the results are not shocking - the battery malfunction theory has been rejected. It was first rumored that defective batteries were more than likely the cause of the devices going boom but as it turns out, excess force was the reason - according to Apple.

<

blockquote>"The iPhones with broken glass that we have analysed to date show that in all cases the glass cracked due to an external force that was applied to the iPhone."
