Comparing iPad Twitter app timeline views

Earlier in the week I compared iPhone Twitter app timeline views, and since fair is fair, it seemed only right that I do the same for iPad Twitter apps. And again, Twitter's cold war with client developers notwithstanding, there's some amazing investment to be found here. Now, while the iPad doesn't enjoy the the breadth of Twitter apps, due to the larger screen there's an even better opportunity for depth. Instead of the 15 + 3 I found for the iPhone, here are 8 + 1 for the iPad.

Google has just updated their Google+ social networking app for iOS to version 4.0, and among the new and improved features is support for Google+ Communities, the ability to set timezones and indicate guest numbers in events, profile editing, a new compose interface, and a new design for visual stream.

Facebook for iPhone has received a little update, today, that now allows users to choose an album when uploading photos (finally!). Facebook also claims that the News feed and Timelines load and open faster.

Twitter introduces their own photo filters

Hot on the heals of Instagram's new big update that includes a new filter -- not to mention their removal of Twitter card and embed support! -- Twitter has released an update to their iPhone app that allows you to add filters to your photos when sharing them to Twitter. They even made a fancy video to show off the new feature and teach you how to use it. The filters are a result of a partnership with Aviary; they are responsible for powering Twitter's photo filters and effects.

Meet new people to chat with with Jingu Friends for iPhone

Jingu Friends is an IM app for iPhone that helps you find friends to chat with on other IM clients like WhatsApp and Kik. The interface is very basic, yet very modern and polished. Path now available for iPad

The social network Path has been updated with support for the iPad. In portrait, it has a design that you would expect -- sidebar on the left with your stream to the right. In landscape, a summary of the posts for the day are displayed as a collage of photos, movies, music, locations, and book previews. It's a very visually appealing to consume the content shared by your friends.
