Path adds messaging, stickers for messaging, and a shop to, um, buy stickers for messaging

Path, the eye-candy filled semi-private social network app for iPhone and iPad, has updated to version 3.0. App.net adds free, invite-only limited account tier

app.net (ADN) has just announced a new, free account tier. It's by invite only, so if you want in you'll have to hit up an existing, paid friend with an account. It's also limited, in that you can't engage with as many people or host as much data as a paid account. What it is is a way to sample one of the most interesting cloud services to date. Facebook app updated with free calling to U.S., Canada

Facebook for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad has been updated to version 5.5. New features include an improved button design, intended to make commenting, liking, and sharing easier on News Feed posts, and the inclusion of free VoIP calls for users in the U.S. and Canada, something previously introduced in the separate Facebook Messenger app.

VoIP requires Wi-Fi or cellular data. And, of course, reports of bugginess are already coming in... If you've tried out the latest Facebook update, let me know how it's working for you. If you haven't tried Facebook for iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad yet, grab it from the App Store via the link below.

Comparing iPad Twitter app timeline views

Earlier in the week I compared iPhone Twitter app timeline views, and since fair is fair, it seemed only right that I do the same for iPad Twitter apps. And again, Twitter's cold war with client developers notwithstanding, there's some amazing investment to be found here. Now, while the iPad doesn't enjoy the the breadth of Twitter apps, due to the larger screen there's an even better opportunity for depth. Instead of the 15 + 3 I found for the iPhone, here are 8 + 1 for the iPad.
