Best Mac games of 2023 that you can play right now on macOS
Contrary to the myth, you can game on a Mac with ease.
Upcoming releases
There are so many great titles already available for Mac, but there are also more to come that we're anxiously awaiting to get our hands on. It's important to note when looking at release dates that getting games on Mac is different than it is on other platforms. This could mean that although a game is already out on other consoles or PC, they may still be working on Mac releases. These titles are just a few that we are keeping an eye on.
Scars Above
Dr. Kate Ward was sent as part of a team to an alien object that appeared above Earth. In this third-person sci-fi shooter, Kate wakes up in an alien world alone. Although things haven't gone to plan, she still investigates to learn more about how this new place works. There are several different biomes to go through with different challenges in each area.
As you play, you use your skills and the things you learn to craft weapons and moves to defeat the aliens trying to attack you. In addition to using your research to gain skills and build weapons, you can also scan your enemies to learn the best strategy for battling them. Can you figure out this world and these creatures? Will you discover what happened to the rest of your team?
Scars Above
Coming Feb. 27, 2023

Mina the Hollower
If you love a good classic feeling game, you should put Mina the Hollower on your list. This 2D platform adventure follows mouse, Mina, in an 8-bit journey to defeat monsters in dungeons and level up as you go. Although the default weapon is Mina's whip, there are other weapons you can pick up. Each weapon gives you new moves so you can choose based on your preferred battle style.
This title is made by the developers of Shovel Knight, a widely popular platformer. From what we've heard in the trailer, the music hits that nostalgic 2D platformer feeling perfectly, giving you all the same vibes as the original games of that era. The storyline is inspired by Victorian Gothic horror as Mina is on a cursed island and trying to save it from the beasts inhabiting it.

From the Shovel Knight developers comes a new 2D platform adventure, Mina the Hollower! In this cute pixel adventure, Mina is trying to save an island by defeating all the monsters and bringing light to a world taken over by darkness.

Disney Dreamlight Valley
A Disney fan's biggest dreams may have just come true in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This game is a life-simulation where you get to live in the world of Disney animations. Players create their own avatar, interact with both Disney and Pixar characters, and complete tasks they ask of you. In addition to the adventures and the story, there is the freedom to take your time and create different villages and amenities at your own pace.
Currently, there is an early access version of this available now, but unfortunately not for Mac yet. The full release for all consoles, hopefully including Mac, is said to happen in 2023. According to a Tweet from the developers, they needed more time for the Mac release so they could properly optimize it for the system.
