What you need to know

  • Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are remakes of the Generation 4 titles on the Nintendo DS.
  • Players with save data from Pokémon Sword, Shield, Let's Go Pikachu! and Let's Go Eevee! can receive mythical Pokémon as gifts in the Generation 4 remakes.
  • Jirachi is available for those who played Pokémon Sword and Shield, while Mew is available for those who played the Let's Go games.

If you're picking up Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl this week, you'll be in for a treat if you're a loyal fan of Pokémon games.

Two mythical Pokémon that are usually only obtainable through Mystery Gift distributions or special events, Mew and Jirachi, are available for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players, under the right conditions. If the player has save data for Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu! or Let's Go Eevee! on their Nintendo Switch, they can receive Mew from a woman in Floaroma Town.

If you have save data from Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!, or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! you can receive Mew as a companion in #PokemonBrilliantDiamond and #PokemonShiningPearl!

Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players with save data for Pokémon Sword or Shield can receive the mythical Pokémon Jirachi, who first made its appearance in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. The method to obtain Jirachi is the same as Mew, except a man in Floaroma Town will give the player the mythical creature instead.

The Pokémon Company is rarely this generous with its mythical Pokémon, so many players who invested time in previous Pokémon games can find joy in having their efforts recognised. There's no word on whether distribution events will happen for players who did not purchase previous titles, but we'll be sure to update you if that happens.

Let's go, Sinnoh!

Samsung's Starbucks mashup is way cooler than any U2 iPod

Companies doing deals that take one brand and mash it up with another isn't a new concept, but sometimes a company does it better than the rest. Samsung is the latest to get things spot on with a new range of accessories that carry Starbucks branding in a way that will make you wish Apple could follow suit.
