Part of what made Foursquare so much fun, aside from telling everyone where you were, was the ability to claim Mayorship of a specific location, and that has come back to its Swarm app. People would fight over Mayorships, everyone wanted to be Mayor of all the places they visited, and now users can get back to fighting the good fight. Along with bringing the feature back, Foursquare has rolled out some rules for it as well.
If you are not already using Swarm, you can begin so now by downloading it for free from the App Store (opens in new tab).
Jared started off writing about mobile phones back when BlackBerry ruled the market, and Windows Mobile was kinda cool. Now, with a family, mortgage and other responsibilities he has no choice but to look for the best deals, and he's here to share them with you.
Glad to see the mayorships back! It's easily my favorite feature of the original foursquare. Sent from the iMore App
And just like that, Swarm is relevant to me again. The fun is back! Sent from the iMore App
Deleted and forgotten.
Good thing they brought it back. Folks were leaving the most brutal comments in the app stores.
I might give it a try again, will have to see if I feel like it. I am not in the habit of checking in since FourSquare "became" swarm. I am ambivalent about it.
Got out of the habit of checking in on four square but downloaded swarm to see who was still on it and all my friends have also stopped using it. Deleted again like many others. I'd love to know what their usage stats are both now and before swarm.
