iPhone 4 Jailbreak - In theory?

Geohot has updated his blog to let us know that he's apparently jailbroken his iPhone 4 in less than one day.  There's a little caveat though -- he's said he probably won't release it.  Well I guess my question is, what's the point in posting it up then?  Most people are familiar with Geohot's blackra1n and purplera1n jailbreak tools.  They were simple and downright easy.

UPDATED: It's live! iPad 3G + Wi-Fi jailbroken on release day

UPDATE: Spirit is live, go grab it if you want it.

The iPad 3G + Wi-Fi was released this past Friday and on that very day Dev Team member MuscleNerd showed the world it was jailbroken. The new iPad proved to be vulnerable to comex’s “Spirit” jailbreak. Unfortunately, the software is not yet publicly available but it should be released soon.

Dev-Team Releases iPhone OS 3.1.3 PwnageTool for Mac OS X

If you have a itchy trigger finger when it comes to updating the software on your iPhone then this latest release of the Dev-Teams PwnageTool for Mac OS X is just for you. RedSn0w 0.9 Beta for Mac and Windows is Released by iPhone Dev-Team

The iPhone Dev-Team is back, this time with the first beta of RedSn0w 0.9 for Mac and Windows. Version 0.9 will allow for jailbreaking, unlocking, and customizing of the iPhone OS 3.0/3.1.2 software. It is important to note that this beta supports every iPhone and iPod touch with the exception of the iPod touch G3. (That will be supported after the beta period is over.)

Dev Team Releases iPhone/iPod PwnageTool 3.1.4 for Mac OS X

The Dev Team has just released PwnageTool 3.1.4 for Mac OS X. This release supports the 3.1.2 iPhone software for the following devices: iPhone 2G/3G/3GS and iPod Touch 1G/2G.

  • The iPhone 3GS is now supported out of the box in PwnageTool 3.1.4 (or if you have upgraded to 3.1.x in iTunes)
  • The iPod 2G is still supported in PwnageTool 3.1.4 but you must already be jailbroken (we’ll update this if there’s a big demand from non-jailbroken ipt2G owners)
  • The iPod touch 3G is NOT supported

Dev Team Releases PwnageTool 3.1 for Mac OS X

The Dev Team have updated their blog to let the jailbreakers of the world know how to go about jailbreaking iPhone 3.1. It seems as if Apple has really thrown a monkey wrench into jailbreaking the 3.1 software, however, so sit tight as this may be a bit confusing...

First and foremost they have released the PwnageTool 3.1 for Mac OS X that should only be used with the original iPhone and iPhone 3G. Sorry 3GS owners, you'll have to wait. Be sure to heed some of the Dev Teams warnings before attempting to jailbreak your device.
