does anyone know when the SDK will be release? i see that the app store is now on apple.com but when is the sdk coming out. On the apple site it also says “coming soon” lol that helps just makes us (or at leist me) more ancious..spelling anyway any help would be great… i hope there will be a way to change the background of the icons

Theres really no way to tell whats going to be out there on day 1 but i really think theres is going to SOO much stuff put out there by not just Apple but EA, and im sure that only days after the launch we are going to see tons of applications going up by reprogrammers that are trying otu the new SDK system. Apple has bragged Tons about their development software and i really think that there are going to be lots of developers out there looking to get noticed and just create smaller programs that are going to show themselves off. I just hope that things stay free, i really dont wanna see lots of programs which users are going to have to pay for, it would ruin the whole thing.

It all looks like conceptual stuff, but I hear Apple is very strict about what information can and cannot be released to the public, lest you experience their wrath.

Considering how talented many of the Jailbreak community app creators are, I think Apple would be shooting themselves in the foot to ignore them. Far too many useful and potentially amazing apps came from the Jailbreak community for them to all be denied; I only hope Apple recognizes this.

One thought hit me after my post. While it may be agreed that some big name, big dollar companies will get primo spot in the app store. What does Apple do with the folks who supported Jail Break? Do they embrace them, ignore them or punish them? My guess is Apple will give them a time out for a while.

if the store comes out on the 9th or during WWDC: handpicked big-money companies like Salesforce, AOL, EA, etc.

If the store comes out sometime later this month: big name companies and some/all approved third party developers like any random person who gets in.

Apple Apps: Definitely a dictionary/thesaurus widget, maybe a iPhoto like picture editor for the camera app.

Google Apps: these will definitely be available at the start, maybe a Google Docs app, maybe Google Earth, hmmm... that's all I got.

Task tracking app please! False calendar appointments work, but they get old..... Oh, wait, this is about what I think will be on there, not what I want? Ok, in that case...

I think there will be a good mix of apps from different walks of life. I think the most dominate type will be games, but I can also see there being a good number of productivity apps, as well as some stuff that is just "cool." I am well aware that day 1 is nothing more than a springboard to the future, but hopefully there will be enough good stuff in there —free, or for pay— to keep us occupied while developers work on rolling out new and exciting stuff.

One thing that struck a chord of humor with me was the comment on not enough RAM for multitasking. I can remember when a computer with 128mb of RAM was "fast." Now, it isn't even enough to allow a MOBILE PHONE to multitask. Just goes to show how far we have come in such a short time....

There will be plenty of Apple created apps and quite a bit of stuff from 1) the vendors who did the demos back in March; 2) traditional Mac developers who have established Mac apps and 3) companies that paid Apple large sums of $ to offer their apps out of the gate.
