iPhone Dev-Team Shows Off iPhone 3.0 Jailbreak and “UltraSn0w” Unlock
Engadget Mobile brings word that the iPhone Dev-Team has shown off a working Jailbreak and Unlock — now dubbed UltraSn0w — via Qik video.
The Jailbreak and Unlock should be available on Friday, though TiPb’s guess is it may not work on the new iPhone 3G S, since it took 6 months to unlock the iPhone 3G via yellowsn0w and longer for the 2nd generation iPod touch via redSn0w. We’ll likely know more when the Dev-Team gets some quality time with the new hardware and figures out what, if any, new cats Apple has brought for the mice to game…

Yes you can Jailbreak it only unlock will be released on friday.
well i think the jailbreak is ready to come out too but i think they are waiting for friday to make sure apple releases 3.0 without making any changes to prevent the unlock and jailbreak
Why would this work on any previous iPhone (1st gen and 3G) but MAYBE NOT the 3GS? I dont get it. Isnt it the same OS?
It is in fact the same OS, but the hardware is different which means the process of jailbreaking is different. Ultrasn0w should work on the 3GS if it can be jailbroken since the Baseband (Software) is the same.
The Dev Team has stated that the only way to “block” their jailbreak is to modify the hardware itself. I wouldn’t be surprised, and in fact it is to be expected, that Apple found a patch for it by this time around.
Never give up though. Everything that can be Engineered can be reverse-engineered

Does anyone know if jailbroken apps like Winterboard, Categories, Backgrounder will be working under 3.0? Or do ew need to wait for those to get upgraded too?

i have had the golden master just restored to get the copy that apple have released fru itunes i fort that they were going to let us have the jailbreak tool the same time apple’s 3.0 was made available i only ant to jailbreak anyone have a clue how to get it or when we can because on the dev blog they said we only have to wait for ultrasnow not the actual jailbreaking tool.

@jose i’m not sure if you are asking a question or just stating what you are going to do but if you want your phone to be unlocked (so you can continue using t-mobile with 3.0) the yes you should wait untill friday when ultrasnow will be released that way you know there won’t be any problems if all is done properly hope this helped.
p.s on the quickpwn site they are saying quickpwn 3.0 will be out soon and to stay tuned but i’m not getting my hopes up because i think it won’t be released till late tonight/early morning or friday day/night
yeh theres a field where you can insert your email adress and they will send u an email when its out.im downloading the 3.0 firmware but will have to wait to jailbreak it,,hope its out soon and i think ill cope:D:D:P
@bezzer88 You needn’t have bothered. The GM is the same build as the “official” release, so there is absolutely no difference between the software.
Where do you get the 3.0 firmware !!
@aurius i know yeah but the restore seemed to make it function better it was a bit laggy b4 so im thinking i would of had to restore it again sooner or later it might of not restored properly not sure

Have jailbroken my 3G running OS 3.0 using Redsn0w with no problem, however….. where can I find Ultrasn0w? I thought it would be out yesterday.

This 04.26.08 baseband is killing we need a 3d fuzzy that will work with a 5.9 bootloader. Im not worried about 3.0 but still need ultrasn0w to unlock my damn phone.

I added “repo666.ultrasn0w.com” to Icy’s sources, and then did a search for “ultrasn0w” and I get no results. Where is ultrasn0w? I installed Cydia, but when I start it, it crashes immediately. How can I get ultrasn0w?

Hello, i recently made the bone headed move of connecting my jailbroken tmobile 2g iphone to itunes and hit the download of version 3.0 and now myphone is virtually locked again, is this too serious a problem? could it be fixed? please help me.
