google just supplies the tiles and map data. apple could replace google maps with yahoo maps or mapquest.

the problem with doing that is that neither of these services have as comprehensive maps coverage as google maps, so there would be complaints. however, for most people yahoo maps or mapquest would be more than sufficient.

street view would be more difficult to replace, but the technology isn't exclusive to google.

if apple wants google off the iphone entirely, they could certainly do so.

I thought higher quality vids would be unlocked over 3G after 3.0 came out?

Since they upgraded the YouTube app I have to say that I don't use the webapp anymore for viewing subscriptions and faves.

This webapp seems to be made in response to the bad blood between Google and Apple. Does this mean we may soon see an iPhone without Maps and YouTube apps? I wouldn’t mind losing YouTube so much but I couldn’t live without the Maps app. I’d actually be happy though if they replaced the YouTube app with Hulu or Netflix, I used the YouTube app over the weekend for the second time since 3.0 came out (few and far between)!
