Apple’s bravura attempt to bring productivity apps to multitouch, the iWork for iPad suite of Pages [$9.99 - iTunes link], Numbers [$9.99 - iTunes link], and Keynote [$9.99 - iTunes link] are now all available in the US iTunes App Store.

(We’re guessing Apple is waiting to roll them out internationally until the iPad officially rolls out internationally in “late April”, though they could conceivably hit any time).

These will be defining apps for Apple and the iPad, both in terms of the price point they’re setting and in how far they can go in convincing people the iPad can be used to create and not just consume.

If/when you try them out let us know if they’re good, good enough, or just not. Apple Guided Tour videos after the break!

They putting all this in the store today and it can’t be used until tomorrow. Give us something we can use today!!lol. How about 3.2 for the iPhone!! That would be great.

  3. DaJe says:

i think this is stupid.. i thought they came pre loaded

  4. Baustin says:

They never said they’d be preloaded. No one said that. Even in the keynote Steve said they’d be available for $9.99.

  5. USMC says:

Will we see this on the iPhone?

  6. USMC says:

Renee, will we get this on iPhone?

  7. Gino from the Bronx says:

No you won’t be using those apps on your iPhone/iPod touch anytime soon.

The programs are designed to be used on a big screen interface. Dedicated ipad apps won’t work on your iPhone.

  8. John says:

That is amaaaazzziiinngg. When they said that ipad is revolutionay and magical, this is what they mean. When ipad was first announced, I thought it would be a waste because it couldn’t do more than my iPhone. But after seeing these videos, these apps are reason enough to want to buy and ipad.

  9. AT&T Bites says:

Anyone know if Pages on the iPad has the Outline Mode?

  10. Hello, I have been following your site for some time now and read most or your posts. Is there any way that I can subscribe so I get updates sent to my email? Cheers

  11. Charles says:

I have purchased the application, “Pages”, and sorry to say that it is very disappointing: - It does not support MS Word documents that are password protected (password protected documents cannot be opened using Pages) - It failed to open a MS Word document that is only 13.5MB in size (Pages crashes and quits when opening the document) - It opened my MS Word document that is 8MB in size, but was taking forever to open the file

When compared to other Word processors for the iPhone such as Documents to Go, my MS word document that is 19MB in size was opened quickly without any problem. Also, my password protected MS Word documents are supported by this application.

If not for the great marketing power of Apple Computers I would not have switched from Documents to Go to Pages; it is a great mistake buying Pages.

Apple’s products are hot sellers generating great revenue for the company, but it is not the products themselves that are good; rather, it is just the marketing department of Apple Computer that is doing a great job.

Pages sells for $9.99 USD, but it is definitely not worth it at this price; this application should have came with the iPad for free. If not, it is probably worth only $0.99 USD taking into consideration of its usefulness; it is just a toy rather than a tool running on the iPad.
