Playboy magazine coming to iPad absent nudity
Playboy magazine is coming to iPad by the nudity isn't coming with it. According to founder Hugh Hefner, who broke the news on Twitter, the reason is:
Steve Jobs has a thing about nudity
So yes, you really will be reading it for the articles.

I'm surprised they even bothered pandering to Jobs on this one. Playboy is one brand that could've said, "You know what Jobs, no nudity = no playboy." If every publisher that has issues with the way Apple demand concessions to get a product on the iPad just walked away instead of pandering then Apple would be in a position where they had to bow to the publishers or lack big name content.
That said I am pleased to see some consistency here. If numerous bikini babe app developers can't have boobs then there shouldn't be exceptions for big names.
Censorship is never a good thing. If he is afraid of children buying this, then age-confirmed apple store accounts would be a better step in the right direction. If he is afraid of adults buying this, then he should move to Afghanistan where the women wear burkas.

Playboy obviously agreed to distribute the magazine content without the playmates. It's not censorship. It's a supposedly mutually beneficial business arrangement.

Playboy with no pictures...This is so ridiculous. How many 13 year olds are running around with iPads anyways? Who is Steve Jobs protecting exactly? I means, if a kid has access to a computer, he has access to nudity, porn, and much worse-Playboy is very conservative when compared to what else is available on the web. Preventing stuff like this just makes Steve Jobs look like he wants to be the planet's conservative dad preaching what HE thinks is right and wrong (all the while, he's got a stack of porn hiding in his closet). Its lame, and I wont subscribe until we have access to the full magazine. EPIC FAIL.
