Apple Vs Samsung

According to a sudden flooding of reports, the jury in the Apple vs. Samsung U.S. trial has come to a verdict...

...and we won't find out what that verdict is until later this afternoon.

Yes, just like American Idol, when they tease results and then cut to commercial, all we can do now is wait until later this afternoon, Pacific Time, to find out more.

In 2010, Apple proposed to Samsung a patent licensing deal for $30 per smartphone and $40 per tablet. Unsurprisingly, Samsung turned down the offer, as it likely would have cost them nearly a quarter billion dollars annually.

While Samsung shipped roughly double the amount of smartphones Apple did last quarter, market share still isn't translating into profit share, as Apple retains an absolutely massive 73% share of smartphone and tablet profits. And that was during a slow quarter where people started anticipating the next iPhone. John Paczkowski reports for All Things D:
