Apple Vs Samsung

Samsung sues Apple over iPhone 5

Samsung has filed suit against Apple and the iPhone 5. No, it's not because Samsung is worried they won't be able to copy "aluminium" fast enough, it's because they feel Apple is violating several of their patents, including six utility patents and 2 standards essential patents involving (non-LTE) wireless networking.

iPhone 5 vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 2: Which one should you get?

Apple has released the taller, thinner, faster, lighter, brighter iPhone 5 -- and we've got your definitive iPhone 5 review right here -- and now Samsung is bringing their next-generation giant, the Galaxy Note 2 to market.

As much as Samsung has been labeled a "copyist" over the course of the last couple years, the Galaxy Note series has always been a big exception, literally. Due to its size, some have labeled it a "phablet", half phone, half tablet. While it's both of those things, it's also neither. It's really a Wacom-style digitizer put into highly mobile form. And as anyone who's ever used a Wacom knows, it resembles a stylus in shape only.

So what happens when you put Apple's precision up against Samsung's power? The iPhone 5's elegance against the Galaxy Note 2's enormity? Let's take a look.

Samsung's new anti-iPhone 5 ad insults geniuses, customer's intelligence.

Samsung reportedly sent out an early review copy of their new Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 5 advert, probably to get some attention amid the hype of the iPhone 5 launch. If the ad is real, and really does come from Samsung (and sometimes these things aren't what they seem), it's unfortunate. Instead of trying to educate consumers as to the real advantages of Samsung's phone -- of which there are many -- they created more of a parody or farce.

iPhone 5 vs. Samsung Galaxy S3: Which phone should you get?

Android is the most popular smartphone platform on the planet, Samsung is the most popular Android manufacturer, and the Galaxy S3 is almost certainly going to be the most popular Android phone this year. And the iPhone 5 is going to be one of the most popular phones, period. So, that means anyone looking to buy a new phone for the next year will likely end up trying to decide between the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Apple's iPhone 5. The good news is, both are phenomenal devices. The bad news is, that makes the choice especially tough. Our Mobile Nations sibling site, Android Central has already given you their take. Here's mine.

Editor's desk: Jeff Bezos vs. Steve Jobs, ultimate copy loop, and 4 years, 7000 posts, and 2 million words later...

Less. Than. Three. That's how many days remain until Apple holds their September 12 event and we almost certainly get our first, official look at the iPhone 5. I just put up a fancy new iPhone super page to keep track of all the action, and we have lots more coming this week.

Starting tonight as I talk geek-to-geek with Fox New's Clayton Morris about what we can expect at the big event. You don't want to miss that. But before we get too caught up on the week ahead, here are some final thoughts on the week that was, including Amazon vs. Apple, the ultimate copy loop, and a sentimental moment for yours truly...

Apple adds Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note to ongoing U.S. patent lawsuit

Apple might have already won $1 billion dollars in one U.S. lawsuit against partner/rival Samsung, but they've still got others pending, and they've now added Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note devices to the list of products they claim infringe Apple patents.

Apple's more organized than Samsung

The above image shows an SSID some poor, frustrated member of the press used to express his or her frustration at trying to cover Samsung's Android and Windows Phone event live today at IFA 2012.

Clearly, if there's one thing Samsung isn't copying from Apple it's how to give a keynote. At the Galaxy S3 event, a female Samsung executive did the PR equivalent of spit take after hearing Samsung's new, tinkle-like audio tone, presumable for the first time.

At Unpacked today, Twitter seems to be of the collective opinion a male Samsung executive actually uttered an expletive on stage -- "We heard a lot of [beep] about sharing tonight."

It's a pity because some of the devices Samsung showed off look interesting, if not a little familiar...

Xperia, Galaxy Note, Ativ-S, Galaxy Camera: New Sony, Samsung phones come out to play at IFA 2012

Our Mobile Nations sibling sites, Android Central, and WPCentral are live at IFA 2012 in Berlin, Germany, and since Apple doesn't attend any shows but their own -- expected on September, 12, of course -- that leaves the stage wide open to companies like Sony and Samsung to show off new Xperia T, Galaxy Note 2, Ativ-S, and other devices. Here's what we've seen so far...
