Apple releases Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 update

Apple has released Mac OS X Lion version 10.7.3 and while there doesn't seem to be any new goodies for iPhone or iPad users, if you're running Apple's desktop OS, it's waiting for you via Software Update.

OS X Lion was first shown off at Apple's Back to the Mac and presented as taking iPhone and iPad innovations back to Apple's traditional computer lines. While some of the changes have been welcomed with open arms, others have experienced birthing pains, and hopefully this and future updates help take the rough edges off. Either that, or 10.8

Final Cut Pro X updated to turn your multi-cam iPhone videos into masterpieces

Apple just released an update to their executive video editing software suite which adds multi-camera syncing and broadcast monitoring suport. Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3 also includes enhanced XML, so it can talk with third-party plug-ins more easily.

Use Siri dictation on your Mac with Air Dictate for iPhone

Air Dictate is an iPhone 4S app by Avatron that allows you to use Siri to dictate text to your Mac. To use, first you must visit avatron.com/i to install the Air Dictate Receiver app for you Mac. Then, over your shared Wi-Fi network, you can share your Siri dictation to any Mac application that accepts text!

Bungie’s Marathon 2 arriving in the App Store on December 16

The second part to the hugely popular Mac gaming trilogy Marathon is set to hit the App Store on Thursday December 16. The original Marathon title was released back in July to great acclaim and better still it was free. The creators, Bungie, later went on to make Halo for the Xbox.

Marathon 2: Durandal will be arriving on December 1 according to touchArcade. Amazingly, it will not only support Retina display devices but it will also come as a universal binary. Throw in Game Center support, enhancements to use with the Fling joystick and an all new menu interface and it all adds up to a really exciting game release.

New Best Buy TV ad aimed at bringing Apple Store customers into Best Buy

Best Buy has released a new advert for the holidays called “Everything Apple at Best Buy", and it's aimed squarely at poaching potential Apple Store purchasers and getting them to come to Best Buy's Apple Store . It starts off with a sales representative demonstrating a FaceTime call with an iPad 2. The customer says she didn’t know that Best Buy had all of the Apple products. See where this is going? It ends with Santa about to leave his presents under her tree however she has already bought the complete Best Buy Apple inventory; and it’s under the tree already!

Apple releases iTunes 10.5.1, launches iTunes Match in the US [Updated]

Apple has released iTunes 10.5.1 and along with it, their paid music locker service in the U.S., iTunes Match. Coming after several extended betas, and past the previously announced October time frame, iTunes Match costs 24.99 a year and allows users to scan their iTunes libraries and either gain access to matching, 256kbps tracks from the iTunes Catalog, or upload their own, off-catalog tracks for access from any iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or iTunes client on Mac or Windows.
