Why are iPhone 6s users "upgrading" to the iPhone SE?

Ed: Welcome to this week's edition of The Pixel Project: a weekly comic from Diesel Sweeties' Rich Stevens on Apple, technology, and everything in-between. Today: Why are iPhone 6s users "upgrading" to the iPhone SE?

Big phones are bad for my iPad's already shaky self-esteem Tired of paying 5 cents every time I use Reachability Evolution has not magically extended the length of my thumb Power button on top, as Steve intended Probably the last iPhone to ship with a headphone jack

  • That is some real commitment if people are actually buying a phone with the same or worse internals and a worse body just because it's newer.
  • For a good amount of people, it's the size.
  • This is obviously a joke.
  • Worse body? That is a matter of opinion. Personally, the 6 series is the ugliest iphone since the 3 series. Ugly antenna lines, protruding camera etc. I have been due for an uprgrade since the 6 came out but will wait until they can get a design that I find pleasing....or it will be an SE upgrade, a timeless design.
  • The few compromises are not important to everybody (FFC, barometer, screen quality). While the size and extra battery life are a big plus in the pragmatism category. And "worse body" is definitely in the eye of the beholder! :)
  • LOL.
  • Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha *wish I could have laughed like this after reading this strip* Sent from the iMore App
  • You call this an upgrade?
  • I think everyone thought they wanted a bigger phone, after being stuck on the on the 4" screen for years, while Android users made fun of them through 5"+ screens. When the 6 first came out, there was this massive flood for many customers towards the bigger screen. The 6+ sold more than the 6 at first, because people wanted a bigger screen, but was unsure if they wanted it to be that big. After seeing other iPhone users with the + variant, many 6 owners another upgrade. When the 6s came out, the +s started to sell more than the 6s, to fully embrace the 5.5 screen. After a few months of everyday usage, I think a lot of people don't really want that big of a phone in their hands. Personally a 5" would be the sweet spot. But the 5 body style has been the most popular from the iPhone community and they want that style, but the internals of the 6s. I'm a fan of the 6 body style personally!
  • I didnt enjoy using 6+ keep going back to my 5s. Im trading both for 5se Sent from the iMore App
  • I only chose the s+ for the battery life, 1080p screen, ois on the camera and a bit more screen than 4.7 . 5" with minimal bezels would be awesome Sent from the iMore App
  • Power button on the top was unique feature. But it's no more. Following android & windows design concept may ruined popularity. Sent from the iMore App
  • I think power button on the side was a mistake in usability for anyone who had previous iPhones or anyone who has another device like iPad that has it on the top. It's a single most annoying thing for me. Sent from the iMore App
  • 5¢?
  • I def like the power button on top, the 4" size fits me better, from my pocket to my hand. Just need it in 128gb! Sent from the iMore App
  • I can't do that small size screen at all now. I'm 6s Plus user and am stuck on large screens.
  • Tbh I don't understand why so many people care so much about where the power button is, the inside of the phone is what counts ;)
  • I have a reliable source telling me the 7 will be inflatable, from 6" to 4' and everything In between, ballooning up and down in seconds. The name will be The Hulk. Watch for it.
