Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, like many of the Pokémon games before them, often require players to acquire particular moves in order to progress through various areas, main quest and side content alike. One of the moves needed to make progress is Flash, or TM70, in order to brighten the dark Wayward Cave.

While the addition of the Pokétech Hidden Moves makes the process of using moves to clear the way somewhat more straightforward in these Sinnoh region remakes, there are still some moves that you'll need to teach your Pokémon in order to make progress. One of these moves, unfortunately, is Flash.

How to see in caves in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

You'll need to acquire Flash or TM70 in order to brighten a dark area like Wayward Cave in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Unfortunately, it's not a Hidden Move (HM), meaning you can't access it through your Pokétech. You'll have to teach it to a Pokémon and then keep that Pokémon in your team, which can be frustrating. Fortunately, there are two different ways to grab flash. We'll run through both.

How to get Flash in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

The first way to get Flash is actually fairly early on in the game. You'll need to have unlocked the Rock Smash HM in order to access it though.

  1. Head to Oreburgh City. You can see its location on the map below.

  1. Head to the left until you find the Oreburgh Caves.
  2. Head north in the caves, then head to the right.
  3. Continue to the right until you find a Pokéball. It'll be at the location in the image below.

  1. You'll acquire a Flash TM via the Pokéball.

Now, if you don't want to bother using this method, or for some reason you need more copies of Flash, then you can buy them.

  1. Head to Veilstone City, which you can see on the map below.

  3. Scroll through her items until you see Flash.

  1. Each copy of Flash costs 1000 Pokémon Dollars.

Just like that, you can get more copies of Flash whenever you need to.
