Apple is now selling the iPhone XR in a SIM-free variant for U.S. customers. First spotted by MacRumors, the SIM-free version of the iPhone XR has shown up a little earlier in the phone's life cycle than it has on previous iPhones. For instance, in 2017 Apple didn't offer a SIM-free iPhone X until December. Versions of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max without a SIM card have been available since launch.

SIM-free iPhones come without a nano SIM and unlocked, ready to connect to the carrier of your choice. You'll also need to pay the whole price of the phone up front. For the iPhone XR, that means shelling out $749 for the 64GB base model, $799 for the 128GB model, and $899 for the 256GB version. On the plus side, after you pay up, you'll own your iPhone free and clear, so you'll be good to go.

You'll find the SIM-free iPhone XR on Apple's website now.
