Skyfire browser also coming to iPad

Skyfire has announced via its official that it is working on a version of their Flash-to-H.264 transcoding browser specifically for the iPad.

Skyfire is a web browser application that was launched last week for the iPhone and opens up flash videos to iOS users. The browser does not actually play flash video. When users click on a page that contains Flash video, Skyfire’s servers download, render and translate the video into HTML 5 which can be viewed natively on iOS devices. Because of this, performance is highly dependent on Skyfire’s server load. This was plainly visible last week when the servers ground to a halt due to such high demand. This resulted in Skyfire pulling the app from the iTunes store. It is now starting to roll out again in various countries.

You can install the iPhone version on your iPad now, however it does not look great visually due to the pixel doubling. If you have used the iPhone version let us know what you think.

No news as to when we can expect the iPad version yet, or if it will be a universal application, we will keep you informed as soon as we know for sure.
