I was sitting playing Xbox last night and had the app store open on my laptop. I was refreshing it every so often and I swear it went up by nearly 1.5 million over just 1 hour. I don't know how much lag is in that counter but apps were flying off the internets last night; I thought it was gonna happen last night while I was asleep.
