Apple has released a new iPhone app called iTunes 12 Days of Christmas [Free - iTunes link] that provides push notifications for a FREE iTunes gift every day from December 26 to January 7 — but the catch is (for right now at least) you have to have a UK, Portuguese, etc. App Store account.

That’s right, iTunes 12 Days of Christmas isn’t showing up in the US or Canadian App Store yet. Whether it’s a promotion specific to certain European countries, or whether Apple needs to figure out licensing for different regions before rolling it out, it’s Joy to the Euro, bah-humbug for North America for now.

If you see it in your local App Store, let us know and enjoy your freebies. (And be sure to tell us whether the freebies are naughty or nice).

[Thanks to Pedro for the tip!]

For now, there is nothing in the App besides a giant countdown Apple style (http://www.c82.net/images/apple-billion-countdown.jpg) until the day of the first free app/album/song/whatever

Doesn’t look like this is available in the Polish iTunes store. Based on the screenshot, I would guess it’s available in the EU15 aka “old Europe”.

  9. David says:

We in Sweden have it! Also, a swedish guy posted a comment that he changed the date to the 27 of December on his phone and saw that iTranslate is the first free app. 28 of December is Pocket God and the 29 of December is a free song from iTunes music store. He also write that apple has fixed this “bug” ..

  10. Joseph says:

  15. I am so dissapointed… I bought my first Apple product (Iphone 3GS) in June and couldn’t find any flaws in the friendly user phylosofy. I even had my IT guy in the company rethinking our solulutions versus MAC instead of our Windows. We were planning on changing everything by the beginning of the summer. Now I’m not so sure… Seems that the Apple strategy is not so different after all…

  16. Will says:

Could someone tell me the gifts for each day so far? I only downloaded it yesterday and I would like to know what I have missed. Thanks and happy new year everyone!!!
