CNBC’s “Planet of the Apps: A Hand-Held Revolution!” Airs Tonight

CNBC’s “Planet of the Apps: A Hand-Held Revolution!” airs tonight at 10PM ET/PT and should be viewed by all iPhone owners. It is a one-hour documentary, reported by CNBC’s Scott Wapner, that takes a look at how this cultural phenomenon had truly changed the way we live and how the launch of the Apple iPhone back in 2007 gave birth to a revolution in mobile technology and a new breed of entrepreneurs.
As the popularity of apps continues to soar and users view them as an essential tool for everyday life, Apple has opened the door for outside developers to create new apps and a new breed of entrepreneurs allowing anyone from an engineer to a Hollywood star to an everyday person to become an app developer.
It starts in 20 minutes! Grab some popcorn and enjoy!

I’m at work. No re-run ????
I saw it…
Yes, there is a rerun at 1AM EST.
They also had “MacHeads right before it”
for some reason it didn’t keep my attention, stopped watching it after the first 15 mins.. =/
I found the documentary to be quite interesting. We really get the sense of the potential of the growing mobile app industry and its impact on consumers. Despite the growth potential, this report spends a good deal of time sharing the criticism of Apple’s role in the industry; we get the unflattering perspective of developers, at the minimum. Also…AT&T takes quite a hit, too. Even the best fans of the iPhone are scathing towards the exclusivity.
torrent for us Europeans please
Dang, I got caught up in the national championship and forgot to dvr it!!! Anyone know if it will play again this weekend maybe
Any rapidshare or torrents yet?
I guess CNBC will get more than the usual 3 viewers tonight.
From Twitter it seems that Saurik may have been mentioned, but CNBC assiduously avoided mentioning Jailbreaking. True?
Looks like 11pm EST Sunday is the next broadcast. They likely will show it again many times in the future, just like their past documentaries. Usually as filler programming on holiday nights when the stock markets are closed that day.
@Robert: I saw absolutely no part of this documentary where jailbreaking was relevant. It was all about the history of apps with a focus on the business aspect of it (making money) and how the app store works. Within the context of it, talking about jailbreaking would be a segway from the flow of it. And you can’t just quickly bring up the jailbreaking term withough going into history of it, why we do it, and what it is. It was filmed with the audience who has no concept of smartphones and what apps are in mind.
@Christopher If making money is a focus, then alternative selling channels is definitely relevant. If how the app store works is a focus, then an alternative store is relevent.
Yooowza would be nicer if they make it was a scan by camera view barcode, and by location bring up the savings. Much more fluid
how do I get approval for an app..I created?
