FarmVille is Coming to iPhone and iPad

FarmVille

FarmVille addicts rejoice! It appears as though the widely popular Facebook game FarmVille by Zynga is coming to iPhone and iPad.

Nothing has been officially announced, but the domains farmvilleiphone.com and farmvilleipad.com have been reserved by the same company that is responsible for the official FarmVille website. This could only mean that Zynga must be planning to make FarmVille available for iPhone and iPad.

The question now is whether Zynga is also planning on releasing FarmVille applications in the App Store, or if there will be strictly web apps available for the game.

So who's excited? Are you a FarmVille player who has been begging for access via your iPhone and iPad? If you're an ex-FarmVille player, will having mobile access bring you back to the farming game? Let us know in the comments below!

  1. Janzil says:

First!!! I am a farmville player and I was wondering when will they add farmville to iPhone ... I'm excited!!! Lol

  2. Mustard says:

This game is an epidemic like World of War Craft. It takes over their lives and hurts the people around them. Hold on I got to wake up at 3am in the morning to water my plants! NOT!

  3. Pam says:

@Mustard - You don't water plants in Farmville...I play WoW and I play Farmville and I think it will be great to check on my farm from my iPhone.

  4. Ultimatemoe says:

This is Great! I mean really! I've waited so long and now there it is! Farmville oh the iPhone! This could really get interesting bcause in app purchase and farmvillecash.. I mean.. Just think about it! It'll be so much easier and more trust than tho online payment. Agree with me?

  5. Dyvim says:

Sweet holy J**us no! But seriously, no, no interest.

  6. Bmwells says:

    Nooo'!!!

  7. ShevonJames says:

I haven't really got into playing this game but I hear more folks than I want to raving about this addictive app. Maybe I will fall in line with addicts on my iPad farmville soon. Come on April 30th.

  8. Lgc says:

Very excited. That would be awesome.

  9. Tricky says:

What about Apple stopping the development of flash to iphone games? Are they seriously going to re-write it from scratch?

  10. Ron says:

    How about cafeworld? :)

  11. Ferrigno says:

How about NO???!.... Just the name makes me sick

  12. Tom Munch says:

Maybe it will actually work properly on the iPhone. Flash is a nightmare online and the game is always having huge hiccups. Sometimes it's unplayable. An iPhone/iPad app would make the game worth staying current.

  13. Keith says:

    @Ferrigno I couldn't agree more.

  14. Hang says:

Excited to hear tht.... I always wished this come true.

  15. Ben Gillam says:

not interested for myself, but the g/f loves it, and she's inheriting my 3g when i get my G4 iphone

  16. Gregg says:

@Ron, that's the first thing I thought. Where's cafe world. I'm at level 78. I could play more if it was on my phone. I submitted this news to TiPb last night. Good to see they posted it. If I hear anything about Cafeworld. I'll send it to them. Hopefully they will post it.

  17. (Copy of) Dev says:

    @Tricky

Most likely, yes they will have to rewrite it if it is a native App. It actually raises an interesting question about 3.3.1, which says that the code must "originally" be written in C, ObjC, or Javascript. Even if Zygna rewrites it, the algorithms involved were written originally in ActionScript. Is that a violation of Apple rules? If not, why is it a violation, as most have alleged but Apple has not clarified, if a machine does the retyping (not cross-compiling, but translating ActionScript source to ObjC source) instead of a human?

Actually, since the transition from ActionScript->ObjC is much rockier than ActionScript->Javascript, Zygna should make the iPhone version an HTML5 webapp, or a PhoneGap native app, if HTML5 and Mobile Safari's implementation thereof are at all up to the task. Not only would it be a smoother transition, they would not be locked to the App Store for their release cycles, and, once enough desktop browsers (read:IE) support the necessary features, they could unify their codebase under a language and release cycle beholden neither to Apple nor Adobe.

  18. Bob says:

I don't play farmville, but I am interested to know if Zynga is going to connect it to the FB version somehow. I play their game Mafia Wars and they've had a MW game on the iPhone for a while. Problem is, the iPhone version does not connect to your FB MW account and therefore you must start completely over using the iPhone app. Major let down. I wouldn't be surprised if the Farmville app is the same way. Don't get too excited.

  19. DanielleS says:

You have got to be kidding me....lol @ALL FARMVILLERS!!! stop playing this game!!!

  20. Socal_Bob says:

well i might just start growing pot in farmville and sell it in mafia wars

  21. jonar1us says:

im an ACTIVE farmville player...and I've been waitN on this for a while...

  22. Nett says:

I would love it. I hope it comes soon. It will probably be like waiting for the iPad 3G. FOREVER!! The Flash crashes are bothersome on every browser I have tried. Can't Adobe Fix Flash???

  23. LeQuang242 says:

    Nooooooooooo!!!!!'

  24. Luc Richard says:

We Rule is better than farmville for me.

  25. Glenn says:

Kept telling family members can't play farmville because I usually use my iPod Touch for face book. Oh well, all good things come to an end. Wait a min. may be I can pull the old too much battery drain, and my USB charging cord is just too short to reach the plug.

  26. Kevin says:

After I was late for work twice because I had to harvest my crops, I realized that I had become a slave to Master Zynga. I 'sold the farm' and haven't played in months. I feel bad for my chickens, cows and whatever else I had on the farm though...

  27. I finally had to "hide" farmville updates on my facebook page as about 75% of all updates... were of course farmville!

Not a bad idea though to make an iPhone app for the game.

  28. Kate says:

YES!!!! This makes me incredibly happy

  29. DD says:

    @Tricky and Dev

I've been hearing html5 ever since people wanted it for their phones and Jobs is adamant about flash.

  30. Susan Bentz says:

Bought an Ipad for the three hour train commute everyday only to find out I cannot farm. Please, please, please add this app soon!

  31. Todd says:

Just because they register the domain names dont mean they are making the apps available.. we need a bit more info than that.. and id thats your only clue then its a far stretch.. maybe they just want to keep the brand name away from others ??

  32. very excited. I am now hooked to Social City because it is available via the iPhone. I hope Zynga comes out with their iPhone version for FV. Love the game so much!

  33. Ladybug says:

If Zynga makes this available for the iphone/Ipad i will go out and purchase a ipad, that would be awesome.

  34. cool dude says:

    this is the best day of my life !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

  35. Natalie says:

Hi, I have been using the iPhone app “Farmer’s Hero” for about a couple months now and love it. It is an app that collects the bonuses your friends have published in your newsfeed for you while you are away from Facebook and puts them in your giftbox in your Farmville game. I run it on my iPhone while I’m at work and also when I’m sleeping. It’s the next best thing to being able to play the actual game on the iPhone! http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=295637190733

  36. swapnil says:

FIRST i love framville very much
