Jailbreak app store, Cydia still suffering post-Amazon EC2 outage
Amazon EC2, their cloud hosting solution, has been struggling with outages over the last day or so, taking down a lot of popular web services including the Cydia Store for Jailbreak users, FourSquare, among others.
While Amazon's EC2 status board shows things are back to normal, a bunch of Jailbreak readers (and some of our own #TeamJailbreak writers) still can't access Cydia.
Hopefully whatever issues remain will be solved quickly. In the meantime if you were considering Jailbreaking, we'd recommend holding off until Cydia is fully functional again or you may not be able to get access to any Jailbreak apps or other Cydia resources.

So that's why foursquare was down. Hahaha! I'm still the Mayor.
so that's why i can't download any jailbreak apps! i thought the rep had shut down or something
Cydia has never been faster for me and I just freshly jailbroke iOS 4.3.2 a couple of days ago.
I was wondering why I was getting a blank screen while trying to install apps
Still down as of 10:00 EST. Just upgraded to iOS 4.2.3 last night and still can't install any of the Cydia paid apps. This sucks.
Amazon is not up according to my AWS Service Health screen, updating every minute, and hasn't been up for over 24 hours. I also haven't been able to get into any purchased app at Cydia, without a host failure.
Saurik's last update on Twitter was 24 hours ago. I wish he updates us again. I know nothing has changed, but since he is the actual Amazon customer, maybe he knows a little more?
I had to do a major Mac software update on Wednesday, shortly thereafter I was locked out of my Cydia account. Was I confused? Was I worried? Was I panicked? Nah, it's jailbreaking, you get used to this stuff. Our thoughts are with you Jay as you get Saurik up and working again. Peace from Santa Barbara, CA
I'm having issues as well. Sucks but I'm sure all will be well soon.
MyWI updated for me yesterday
It is still down. And I didn't know about this, and just jailbroke my phone. Took so long to find the right software to do so and wasted so much time, and once done, this exists. Wtf man... how long will it take to repair? And will mine work any time soon????
"post-Amazon EC2 outage"
There's nothing "POST" about it. While some sites have recovered, there is still an EC2 outage affecting a LOT of our sites.
Just jailbroke my iph4 on 4.1-literally took me 5mins to do. Tried downloading snes4iphone from the app store got host error. Guess its just a matter of waiting until its back running again guys.
With Cydia still down and Amazon claiming all is well, I'm wondering if a certain giant computer corporation led by a man named Jobs has anything to do with this.
I Agree with above comments really happening ..
Check out my new iPhone app that I just released. It's called MultiSnooze and it's available at the App Store. My idea was to come up with a snooze alarm app that would allow the user to tap the snooze button multiple times when your alarm first goes off and then receive that many uninterrupted sleep sessions. It's awesome and if you're a snooze addict like I am then get it now. Learn more at multisnooze. com It's only $1.99
