University of Iowa students can now check their laundry via iPhone, iPad app
The University of Iowa has launched a campus app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch dedicated to helping students navigate the campus, follow news and events and even check to see if their laundry is done!
A new smartphone application allows University of Iowa students and others to see the latest campus headlines, events calendars and even when their laundry in the dorms is finished washing.
UI is one among just a few college campuses who have created their own iOS apps for students, and this is clearly a step in the right direction. Romy Bolton, Manager of Emerging Technologies says the app has "become an expectation", and they're glad they jumped into the mobile app market early.
Any readers out there in college hope to see this sort of thing at a campus near you?

I go to the University of San Diego and we have our own app with location services telling you when the next local tram will stop, maps, news feeds, and you can order food from the campus restaurant for pick up.
Go Hawks!
OMG, I would have killed for something like this back in the 90s.
And everyone wonders why it costs so much to get a college education these days...
Could be the start of yet another social networking fad. Social laundry.
Share your newly cleaned clothes with all your followers! Laundry 2.0. Facebook killer.
I used this app for about the last month of school or so, and it's not a godsend, but it definitely is convenient! It pulls together all the stuff you would normally need to go looking for online and puts it all into one handy place. Pair it up with eBongo and we have a service that tells us when all the buses are coming and stuff like that. Really nifty. I look forward to seeing more school-centric apps.
UW Madison has one too! Its awesome
