How to use Control Center to AirPlay videos to your Apple TV

How to stream content from an iPhone or iPad to an Apple TV with AirPlay

Ever wish you could take a video from your iPhone or iPad and watch it on your big screen TV? Well, with AirPlay and an Apple TV you can! Many apps have built-in AirPlay buttons but, sadly, they're often in different shapes, sizes, and places. Luckily, Control Center has an AirPlay button as well. That makes it easy to find and easy to use!

How to use Control Center to turn on AirPlay

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen on your iPhone or iPad to reveal Control Center.
  2. Tap on AirPlay.
  3. Choose your Apple TV. If you don't see it, make sure your Apple TV and iPhone or iPad are on the same wireless network.
  4. Swipe down to close out Control Center.

Any video that supports AirPlay should now appear on your Apple TV.

How to use Control Center to AirPlay videos to your Apple TV

Using Airplay with the TV is hit or miss, you're right. Sometimes you have to keep hammering at it, turn wifi off and on several times, turn Airplay on & off a few times, reset the device, reboot, anything to make the TV work with a stream. Conversely, I have no problem at all using Airplay with my iMac, works every time. iOS 7 crippled a lot of Airplay's functionality.

Sure do. Use it to send Amazon Prime Videos to the big screen at least once a week. Actually got rid of the Roku because of this - only kept it around to watch Prime videos...

Have any one tryed AirPlay to stream Netflix from an iPad to a 55" UHD TV? And how would it look compared for example, streamin directly to the iPad?.

The tonight show app lets you watch it on the iPad. When you select to play on Apple TV or use mirroring, it says it can't do it but the commercials it can!

I use airplay on my jailbroken ipad air and iphone 5s to stream movies and tv shows to my appleTV using the Movie Box app (jailbreak only). BEST app of life. No need for satellite tv anymore! The ONLY reason i ever purchased an apple tv lol

I don't see an app called "Movie Box." There is one jb called "iMovies" by a James Mycroft. Is that the one you mean? The description says 400 titled, so far. Yes?
